The art of fire keeping 🔥❤️
I’ve had my pequeña tipi for about two years now, and I’m happy to say she is loved and well used. She has held women’s circles, mentoring, my daughter’s birthdays, and special one-to-one sessions.
Over this time I’ve tended a fair few fires on the earth, and each one has been different. I don’t claim to be an expert fire keeper, like my friend or my love , but I do feel I am learning to live in deeper connection with the fire.
Tending a fire on the earth, especially inside a tipi, asks for presence and relationship. It begins with love and good intention. Feeling the ground beneath, noticing whether it is damp, dry, stony or cold, and using a feather to sense the direction and nature of the wind.
Here in blustery Cornwall it can take time to read the elements and respond, adjusting the tipi flaps to support the fire as the wind shifts. The rain can dampen the logs, cool the earth, soften the flame and create more smoke. All of this I am learning through tending my fire. It has been very good for me, and there is still so much more to learn.
Thank you, fire. 🔥
Sitting around a fire is one of the most natural and connective things I can do. My body softens and my soul remembers.
Photos are from last night’s beautiful women’s circle. Our next gathering will be in April, I would love you to come along.
Come and enjoy good company, heart-opening cacao, grandma Linda’s soup and gluten-free crumble.
Have you held a fire on the earth before? If so, how did it go? Are you drawn to fire? Do you like the tipi? Are you longing to connect more with the sacred element of fire and grow a beautiful circle of sisters?
With love,
Rosie xx
