I’m reading a lot about nervous system regulation at the moment and am feeling very grateful for our lovely rescue cat Trevor : ) He’s such a joy and his purring presence really helps me to settle into a calmer place!

Part of being a massage therapist is making sure I’m taking care of myself and resting in between clients is important so I’ve got more to give the next person.

The way massage benefits the nervous system is my passion and reason I do my work. We hold so much of our emotional experience as tension in the muscles and soft tissues. Life can be stressful, and can lead to us being stuck in our ‘fight or flight’ sympathetic nervous system repsonse. When we feel safe we can let go and allow the ‘rest and repair’ parasympathetic nervous system to be activated. Massage is a great way to do this and can help soften and release the accumulated tension leaving us feeling lighter, able to move more freely and hopefully feel able to cope better with the challenges of life.

So come for a massage if you can! Or have a cuddle with a furry friend : )

Something a bit different for us this half term, a stay in a YHA to make the most of the Bristol Festival of Light which is well worth a visit if you can! I did my original training at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork back in 2010/2011 and it’s always good to come back!

I’ve been qualified for 15 years now and blend techniques I’ve picked up over the years from various courses, the most recent being advanced Hands Free Massage Training . My passion is how a good massage can help you reconnect with yourself. There’s something special about how the nervous system responds to touch and can leave you feeling restored and better able to cope with the ups and downs of life. I’ve created The Green Room as safe space where you can let go, talk as much or as little as you’d like and take some time to slow down, let go and tune in to yourself.

My good friend Anna hosts a monthly companionship cafe to support people experiencing loss and grief. This months theme is self care and I’ll be joining in to offer free hand and arm massages. Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas as we pass through the winter solstice today.
