Cervical Screening Extended Intervals
From July, younger women (aged 25 to 49) who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited every 5 years rather than every 3, in line with major clinical evidence. This change is based on strong evidence showing that people without HPV are at very low risk of cervical cancer. If you missed your last one, book an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses.

From here you can refer yourself to their NHS service. Their team will take the time to understand what’s going wrong with your sleep and support you to improve your sleep. Most people find resolution to their sleep problems within 3-4 weeks.
The service uses the gold-standard approach and provides natural resolution, as it’s completely medication free. This is ideal as most sleep medications come with unwanted side-effects and are not suitable for long-term use

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) – Who Can Get It on the NHS?

We've had many questions about Mounjaro, the new weight loss injection. Here's what you need to know:
Surgeries in Cornwall are not able to supply this at present as we are awaiting further information and guidance from Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board (ICB). But when it does become available there are strict criteria regarding eligibility for patients. Please read the information below:

Mounjaro is currently only available on the NHS for a small group of patients, under strict criteria:

You must:
Be 18 or over
Have a BMI of 40+, or 37.5+ if you’re from a Black, Asian or other minority ethnic background
AND
Have 4 or more weight-related health conditions (e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, heart disease)

It's initially being prescribed by specialist hospital clinics, and will be rolled out in gradual stages to GPs from late June 2025 onwards – but only for people who meet the above criteria. Please see the following link https://cios.icb.nhs.uk/.../nhs-prescriptions-for-weight.../

It is not available for general weight loss or cosmetic reasons, even if you're willing to pay privately.

Support is available - if you're looking for help managing your weight, and don't qualify for Mounjaro, check out:
https://cios.icb.nhs.uk/move-more-and-eat-well/

Thank you for helping us keep our lines clear for those who need medical care.

WEIGHT LOSS INJECTIONS - Tirzepatide/Munjaro

You may have seen news today that ‘General Practice is providing weight loss treatment’ but the reality is there will be a very small number of patients who are eligible and we haven’t received the agreed details as yet.

Those who are eligible will be contacted by us direct - please do not ring us to request.

Thank you
FHC

Need help getting to your medical appointment?

If you’re going to a healthcare appointment for non-emergency tests or treatment, you’ll normally be expected to make your own way there using your own transport or the range of public, community and voluntary transport available locally.

There are local patient transport schemes that could help you and you may be eligible for NHS funded transport.

Cornwall Council provides information on some volunteer transport schemes (including accessible vehicles) call TAP Cornwall on 01872 223388 or visit Cornwall Council's community transport page.

You can also find more information through Age UK and Volunteer Cornwall or by calling 01872 265300.

NHS-funded patient transport is available for eligible patients meeting the clinical and financial criteria for support or assistance on or after the journey. Advice is available through the centralised booking service by calling 01872 252211 and online.

There's more information, including patient guides and details of who is eligible for NHS funded transport on the ICB website. You can also call the NHS helpline on 0300 330 1343.
