Saturdays Walk with Arc SW Wellbeing Programme. A beautiful day exploring Cober Valley and getting to the iconic granite crossing. Spring is popping up 💫

Starting in Coronation Park in Helston we took the path into King Edward Woods that’s in the estate opposite Lidl and came across soo much wildlife!

A good amount of Sorrel, lots of Red Elf Cup (Scarlet Cup) mushrooms and the common jelly ear and some Yellow Brain! There was a large toad hopping across the path and a very beautiful Dipper bird in the river.

The Cover valley is a broadleaf woodland and has polypodys and moss on the trees creating beautiful scenes as branches stoop over still and running water.

The slippy mud was a challenge as was the river crossing the path at a few points. Wellies or high waterproof boots are best for this walk.

All in all I 100% recommend Cober Valley - keep to the right hand side of the river as you enter the woods to keep to the path to the granite steps 🙂 you’ll start on the left but cross the small footbridge when you get to it!

The Cornish Explorer’s Story 👇

Why I started?

Short answer: I NEED a career outdoors. 🌿

Long answer: Over past few years walking Cornwall’s footpaths, I discovered I had a keen interest wild plants, coastal wildlife and nature in general. This grew and grew until it was all I could think about. 🦀

A website designer and developer at the time, as much as I LOVE all that stuff I was getting itchy at the desk. Websites are fun but it’s a lot of screen time. 💻

So I set off with an idea and recently, my wild idea has become a reality and I have the first year’s 10K guided nature and history walks live and a certification as a Nature and Health Facilitator. 🍃

My goal is to connect people to Cornwall. To her raw beauty, breathtaking nature and forgotten tales. 📖

Hence Cornish Explorers is born. ✨

🥾 Cornish Explorer Club meet at Perranporth on Sunday afternoon.

🪨 We explored the ancient mining galleries in the Droskyn Cliffs, spoke about goldfish in a mining cave on the other side and of course had the best mizzly dip in Chapel Pool.

🍂 Next club adventure is next Thursday evening, a dusk dip and stroll on Fal River!

Join the club and come along x

⭕️🥾🩱 - The Beauty of Penrose

~ 5k
~ 410ft ascent

👇 Terrain
Country Park of Penrose Estate, gravel paths, woodland trail, coastal town, coastal fields, clifftop views. A stunning balance of grass, woodland, beach and coast.

✨ This guided walk started with an early dip at high tide in the walls of Porthleven Harbour and even though rain was forecast, the sun soon made us shed our layers. This 5K loop is gentle and takes you past the powerful geography of Loe Bar where swimming is prohibited in both the sea and lake - for different reasons. The coastal landscape is breathtaking on any day, but those colours really do pop in the sun.

🗺️ Route available tonight on our online Cornwall Walk Library.

⭕️🥾🩱 - Prussia’s Coastal Treasures.

~ 6 miles
~ 855 total ascent

👇 Features
Lots of vegetable fields, breathtaking St Michael’s Mount views, a community thriving coastal village, lots of smugglers coves, the famous Prussia, a freshwater bath in the cliffs and a wooded valley… and breathe!

✨ I was treated to the right conditions when I did a recce and had a paddle in Prussia’s waters halfway. This walk is jam packed with stunning views and is a great way to explore Bessy’s Cove without scrambling for a parking space!
