Goretti got us good here in Brill, Constantine. It’s sad to see so many old trees fall to a few hours of strong winds and rain after decades standing tall. I haven’t seen clients today as people are experiencing various complications and travel disruptions. Hopefully by Monday you’ll all be safe to travel to your appointments with me 💫 Many road blockages were unreported and unattended this morning due to the sheer volume of sites affected. Scroll to see a map of the trees blocking roads in our immediate area.
Our morning walk today took many diversions and we met some lovely folk who’d taken to the roads and footpaths with chainsaws to clear the way for everyone else. Thank you to everyone who’s picked up a tool or a branch today to help keep others safe.
We are very grateful for the workers at the national grid and the highway maintenance people who are inundated with incidents.
While the cleanup continues and stories flood out of Cornwall, I am fortunate to be gently experiencing this with dry boots and a warm home. These storms come to wash us clean, or whatever John Muir and Henry Theroux said…it doesn’t feel that way right now- it’s all a bit of a mess. But we’ll pick up the pieces, fix what’s broken, replace what’s lost, plant more trees, realise just how small we are in all the bigness of it all, work together and life goes on.
For anyone who’s been setback by this, or just hasn’t leapt into the New Year…please remember that if you follow the way of the seasons, this is a time for rest and repair. Our land workers alliance calendar is serving as a good reminder of this (see pic). We’ve got a few months until the trees spring with new growth , so cut yourself some slack. Take stock. Nourish your bones and your soul in anyway you can. When the days get longer and air warms up, perhaps that’s when we get to work on newness.
Lots of Love
Erin xx
