We offer professional training and advice in a wide range of marine and workplace safety training including first aid and STCW courses!

Falmouth Training Solutions is a sister company to Falmouth School of Sailing and Falmouth Powerboat School. We offer professional advice and training in all levels of first aid and health and safety. Our instructors have a wealth of knowledge in administering and training for all our courses. All our first aid courses can be tailored to suit you and your workplace needs. We are based in Falmouth and are mobile to cover all of Cornwall and Devon. We can offer your training at or near your workplace, or in our training facilities in Falmouth. NEW FOR 2017 - we now offer the MCA accredited 5 day STCW Basic Safety Training Courses. The international convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers (STCW) sets the international legal minimum standards for those working at sea. It ensures that a mariner meets a set of specific safety requirements. We are the only provider in Cornwall who can offer all the MCA STCW elements required for the complete Basic STCW who operate all the courses locally in Cornwall. This is the minimum requirement for any seafarer working within a commercial role must carry for employment. Our next MCA Approved Engine Courses are coming up: AEC 1 from 20th October and AEC 2 from 27th October. Each course runs over 5 days and is open to anyone 18+ with RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance (Level 1) or equivalent knowledge.🔧

AEC 1 gives you a solid foundation in theory and practice, while AEC 2 builds on that with advanced training. Take one, or complete both for the full AEC certification. 🛠️

This 5-day course is perfect for those aiming to qualify as an Able Seafarer or Officer of the Watch (Deck). Delivered through both practical and theoretical training, you’ll gain essential skills in deck operations, navigation (helmsman duties), berthing, anchoring, and mooring - all aligned with MCA standards.

Entry Requirements:
- Minimum age 17 years
One of the following:
• MCA-accepted Yachtmaster (Offshore or Coastal)
- Seafish Fishing 16.5 Skippers Certificate (with 6+ months seagoing service)
- UK Class 1 or 2 Fishing Certificates of Competency (Deck or Engineering)
• Yacht Rating with 6+ months seagoing service + steering certificate
• NWR Certificate
• Boat Master Licence (BML) Tier 1 Level 2
• Tug Rating with 6+ months seagoing service + steering certificate

There’s still time to book onto our next MCA Boatmasters Licence (BML) Fire Safety course, running on Monday 11th August.🔥

This practical and theoretical training course is designed to equip participants with essential fire safety knowledge and skills. It covers how fires are caused on vessels, the associated risks, and the key principles of fire safety management while at sea.🔥

Please note that Workboat Code Edition 3 states:
“The Master or nominated fire fighter who has undertaken Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention should undertake an updated Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training course every 5 years.”🔥

This course meets the minimum fire training requirements for vessels operating under the Workboat Code.🔥

During a recent STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting course, part of our STCW Basic Safety Training Course (BSTC), students witnessed a beautiful rainbow forming in the mist from the fire hose - a simple effect caused by sunlight refracting through tiny water droplets. A great reminder that even serious training has its moments of wonder! 🌈

Our BSTC course is mandatory for anyone looking to work on commercial vessels over 24 metres - including in the superyacht industry. ⛵
