This has been my office today. Working outside for a couple of clients. The rain mostly held off but I didn’t mind. Being my the ocean always lifts my spirits and chills my excess pita

One of my Ayurvedic DRs always used to say to me when he saw me looking a bit frazzled ‘Keren, get yourself to the water now’ - river, lake, ocean or even a bath will do the job!

Hello my fellow pitta peeps in pitta season - how are you going? 🔥

Simple ways for us all to cool the pitta 🌶️:

- be in nature
- jump in the ocean
- do a heart opening yoga practice
- meet up with friends
- drink coriander water each morning (see my blog)
- fennel tea for the win
- avoid hot and salty foods
- put on your favourite song and dance when you think your brain is about to explode 🤯

Here I am. In one of my favourite spaces . I thought I’d talk a little about me and ayurveda as it’s been a while since I did that!

I’ve been a yoga teacher since 2004 and ayurveda had always been on my radar being the sister science of yoga. When I travelled India with a girl friend in 2009 we found ourselves in an ayurvedic clinic in Kerala and while I went in full of travel angst and heartbreak, I left feel calm and in my own being. This sparked a desire in me to learn more and over the years I started delving deeper and deeper into Ayurveda until I finally took the plunge and became an Ayurvedic practitioner in 2017.

Those of you who have worked with me know that I have too main rules with Ayurveda:
1. As Dr Svoboda says ‘if it’s stressing you out, it’s not ayurveda’
2. Which leads me to practice what I call, imperfect ayurveda

Ayurveda is very much part of my day-to-day life and part of my tool box for when I start to feel unwell (it has been my absolute saviour on many occasions) but I’ve never been one for hard and fast rules and the thing about ayurveda is it is very much individual, there is no one way to approach it. How can there be when we are all unique individuals. And if we make something too difficult to follow, as human beings, we won’t follow it. So let’s make it simple and do-able. That’s my aim and my offering to my clients.

What’s been your experience with ayurveda?

Let’s talk energy levels

How are yours? We are in Pitta season at the moment which is normally a time where we feel boosted by the sunshine and we have a little more skip in our step. However, it can also be the season of burnout as we try to do and achieve too much. Being predominately pitta dosha myself, I know all too well the signs that I’m burning my pitta flame too brightly.

I start to feel exhausted, rundown, lacking enthusiasm for the things that usually give me a buzz. Over the years I’ve have put things in place to stop me reaching burnout but this has been a particularly busy year for me and so I’ve had to be extra careful to make sure I’m eating well, breaking a sweat daily, dunking myself in the ocean, resting and connecting with those I love.

How are you doing?

A great little drink for Pitta season burnout is a cup of pomegranate juice with a tsp honey – drink once a day.

Hello everyone...it's been a while since I've been on here talking Ayurveda. Mostly due to time constraints of working full time, running the yoga studio and single parenting! And of course during the pandemic I closed clinic and just offered online consultations (which I realised I didn’t love doing) and the seasonal cleanses.

But I’m back with some good news! After a fair bit of life juggling and shifting to part-time work I can now run clinic again and will be doing so from September . I’m also working out a schedule of events, short workshops such as ayurveda for perimenopause, ayurveda for pregnancy and ayurveda for energy (among others).

In the meantime, I’ll get back to posting a little more regularly but please also follow where I will run my workshops and where I will be running my weekly clinic
