At our clinic we do not divide posture into “good” and “bad” because posture is unique to each person and can depend on many factors - anatomy and physiology, health, injuries, the activity being performed, environment, culture, experience… so what may be deemed “good” for one person, may not be the most effective for the next person.

So, why do we talk about posture?
When an activity is repetitive or a posture is prolonged it may lead to strain on the body which could cause aches, pains, or muscular tension...

Our Osteopaths observe this every day with clients in clinic and our aim is to help you to feel better but to learn how to best look after yourself and prevent pain coming back.

💭 INFLAMMATION

We often talk about inflammation in the clinic in relation to the client, their symptoms, their lifestyle, and their health and wellbeing.

⭐ Many people think of swelling, redness, warmth - this is usually a localised area or short-term.
⭐ Inflammation could also be produced throughout the whole body (influences by germs, genes, infections, your gut, your thoughts/emotions, your genetics)
⭐ One way your body keeps you safe
⭐ Helps with healing
⭐ Some inflammation is good for us but too much inflammation is not.

Inflammation is part of the body's defense mechanism. It is a process by which the immune system recognises potential harmful and foreign stimuli and begins the healing process.

We often see people with acute inflammation as a response to an injury, and those with chronic inflammatory conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Inflammatory Back Pain.

We use our case history and examination findings to determine the best course of action for the person - it may be Osteopathy but we do have the knowledge, experience and skills to refer for further investigation and to other healthcare providers when appropriate.
