A huge happy birthday to our wonderful Blackbrook House resident, Cyril – just 97th years old today. To help Cyril celebrate we had a visit from singer Lynsey who made sure to serenade the birthday boy after entertaining everyone with a medley of Christmas favourites. Our brilliant cook, Sam, then revealed a fantastic homemade chocolate birthday cake to finish off the afternoon. Happy birthday, Cyril!

We had a wonderful Christmas party this afternoon with Doorstep Entertainments who brought music, song and laughter to Blackbrook House. Ot was a wonderful show, followed by a lovely Christmas spread, plenty of wine, and a fabulous raffle! Merry Christmas every one!

It’s time to start making those Christmas preparations! Sam, our amazing cook, has been round asking the residents to help give the Christmas cake mix a stir – can’t wait to taste the end result! We’ve also had a few of the residents turn their hand at wreath making, with some fabulous results. Oh, and the tree is well and truly up!

Today we had a superb visit from the Odd Wednesday Men. They’re a group who sing sea shanties, folk songs, ballads, old time music hall songs and silly ditties for fun, and they’re based locally to us at Blackbrook House. What a great sound, and what tremendous fun – perfect for a sing-a-long!

We were incredibly lucky to have the extremely talented musical duo Vinatge Dreams play for us today. Astounding singing from Lucy complemented by the amazing keyboard skills of Glen brought the songs to life. A superb selection of songs from across the sixties, seventies and eighties had us all captivated. Our residents loved them (and the staff did too!).
