We’ve had a lovely afternoon watching the Boyle O’Dowda Academy of Irish Dancing perform for residents. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their performances. The children who danced for us come from all over Hampshire and we were impressed by the very high standard. A wonderful visit, and a big thank you to the Boyle O’Dowda Academy of Irish Dancing from us all!

Yesterday, every Mum at Blackbrook House received a bouquet of spring flowers to mark the special day. it was also a great opportunity for some of the residents to do a spot of cake decorating, followed by a lovely cream tea!

We enjoyed a wonderful sing-a-long with the Odd Wednesday Men yesterday. It was a truly inclusive experience, with song sheets distributed amongst the residents so everyone could join in and fill Blackbrook House with song.

We celebrated our loved ones at Blackbrook House during Valentine’s Day, reminiscing with stories and photos. A delightful Valentine’s tea finished off a lovely day.

We’ve had a lovely afternoon with the uplifting Lyn and Colin from the Doorstep Entertainments – just what we all needed to take our minds off the grey skies and downpours. In fact, this was just the tonic! Everyone enjoyed it!

We’ve had a very welcome return visit from the fantastic musical duo that is Vintage Dreams. Lucy and Glen provide such a lovely choice of songs, beautifully sung and played throughout. It may be a little dreary outside, but inside Vintage Dreams provided the Blackbrook House residents and staff with their own slice of sunshine!

A lull in the onslaught of storms, hail, gusting winds and showers have meant that, today, we’ve seen a little blue skies and sunshine. It may not exactly be warm, but it’s great weather to get down to the coast and enjoy a walk overlooking the Solent, as Jane and Caroline are doing here.

Blackbrook House’s wonderful neighbour, Ruth, invited some of our residents round for afternoon tea. Despite the chill temperatures outside, Ruth offered a warm welcome and delicious home made cakes! What a great way to spend a January afternoon!

Blackbrook House welcomed in the new year with plenty of good food, drink and fun. We had lots of fun with Bernie who provided some wonderful entertainment to see out 2025. Have an outstanding 2026 from all of us at Blackbrook House! Happy new year!

A huge happy birthday to our wonderful Blackbrook House resident, Cyril – just 97th years old today. To help Cyril celebrate we had a visit from singer Lynsey who made sure to serenade the birthday boy after entertaining everyone with a medley of Christmas favourites. Our brilliant cook, Sam, then revealed a fantastic homemade chocolate birthday cake to finish off the afternoon. Happy birthday, Cyril!

We had a wonderful Christmas party this afternoon with Doorstep Entertainments who brought music, song and laughter to Blackbrook House. Ot was a wonderful show, followed by a lovely Christmas spread, plenty of wine, and a fabulous raffle! Merry Christmas every one!

What a cracking way to kick off the Christmas festivities! We’ve had a visit from the Portsmouth pluckers this afternoon, who have entertained with a succession of musical numbers. Lots of singing along, festive hits and general merriment!
