Have you explored diet culture? How does it show up for you in your life? What would it mean to you to be liberated from diet culture’s ridiculous standards?
🙅♀️ Diet culture is a system of beliefs that equates thinness and certain body shapes with health, morality and beauty.
🙅♀️ Diet culture dictates a moral obligation to control weight and body shape through externally prescribed performative behaviours.
🙅♀️ Diet culture criticises certain foods and approves others by painting a binary, medicalised, colonial view of eating.
🙅♀️ Diet culture erases human experience, discriminates and stigmatises people who do not match up to this narrow version of health and beauty.
🙅♀️ But the word is out - diet culture is messing with our relationship with food, our bodies and each other and we can UNSUBSCRIBE!
