I endeavour to keep learning new skills and challenging my own belief systems when it comes to therapy.

Therefore, I consider myself to have a vast tool bag (metaphorically speaking) when it comes to treating individuals. I do not have a routine, sessions are as bespoke as you are individual, so my application varies, as indeed it should.

I may not always be able to answer my phone, I don’t have a secretary and I prefer a paper diary and notes to online booking and digital notes. I also believe you should be able to enjoy your session with me so I encourage you to bring your own clean towels for hygiene and modesty, or a throw if you prefer to snuggle underneath. I am happy albeit a little limited to treat through loose clothing if that is your preference.

I welcome complex chronic cases as well as those of you who just want to relax and vent. Balancing of mind, body and soul is good for all us.

If you feel I can help you or a family member please don’t hesitate to get in touch via text, messenger, what’s app, or email. Please note I will not return missed calls with no voice message.

What is shockwave therapy used for?

Shockwave therapy is useful in chronic conditions when other therapies may have failed to get the desired response, such as:

Calcific tendinopathy/shoulder
Tennis elbow
Golfer’s elbow
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
Patella tendinopathy
Achilles tendinopathy
Plantar fasciitis
Delayed or non-union fractures
Osteoarthritis

How does shockwave therapy work?

Shockwave therapy uses a specialist non invasive device to deliver acoustic energy through the skin to the injured part of the body via a projectile fired by compressed air. The resulting audible shockwaves are mechanical, not electrical.

These shockwaves help to desensitise nerve endings to reduce pain and cause controlled micro-trauma (microscopic damage) to the tissues which encourages the body to respond by increasing blood circulation and metabolism in the affected area stimulating the responses for repair and regeneration to bone, tendons and other areas of soft tissue in both the short and long term. Stimulation of bone repair and improved tendon gliding are just some of the benefits.

The shockwaves can also be used to breakdown disorganised tissue and calcifications.

I am saddened to hear today about the passing of Ifbb Pro Mike Sheridan. He was an inspiration to many and I had the pleasure of working with him in Oxford and Wootton.

A lot of my patients manage their own pain in between visits by using a myofascial release gun. These are hand held devises of variable speed that work into your muscles and fascia via deep percussion to help reduce aches, pain and muscle tension, stimulating blood flow to increase range of movement and aid recovery. While there are some very cheap models on the market, they rarely last and in my experience do not deliver the desired results in the way that this model does. Do not confuse percussion with vibratory.

Is it expensive? It is mid range price wise, although still a fraction of the cost of some professional massage guns. But is it worth it? Absolutely! An investment now will enable you to go extended periods of time between professional therapy sessions saving money in the long term.

I am currently studying the Pelvis, Sacroiliac Joint and Lumbar Spine Masterclass for Continued Professional Development.

The first 4 modules have been passed already.....

I have also completed a spinal course, and will renew my First Aid on line given the current Covid-19 circumstances.

Who knows what else will get added to my study list before reopening in just a few weeks.

Hi everyone,

Please postpone your appointment if either yourself or family members are ill. Patients turning up with any of the known symptoms will not be treated.

I am staying open for aches, pains and injury but please shower before attending your treatment and wear clean clothes. You will be expected to wash your hands on arrival.

All laundry is washed with laundry disinfectant and hard services and appliances wiped with disinfectant.

Be wise, be sensible. Think of others as well as yourself.

A few of my patients have been referring to me as their Angel 😇 lately, both verbally and via message and email. I am not sure I would agree with that, nice as it is, as i am just doing do my job. However, the thankful messages mean so much to me and encourage me to learn more. 😊

My first attempt at Modern anatomy art and I rather like it. I created it by cutting up old bits of art and card and mixed mediums of paint, pen.
