Lets talk about...
🤰 Pregnancy Emotions. 🫠
Finding that you keep flip flopping between an emotional wreck one minute and full on rage the next during your pregnancy? Perhaps you're feeling a just a bit fragile and wobbly?
Well you're not alone. And it is totally ok to feel this way.
This came up in my pregnancy yoga class last night - and it's something that comes up a lot.
You could be someone that generally walks in with a lots of energy and a big smile, but then you come in feeling just a bit rubbish, like you're a bit all over the place, a bit meh. Little things that don't normally bother you have been really getting to you. Then to add to the confusion, you might feel totally fine the week after!
Pregnancy really is one crazy ride (both physically and mentally) - and when you're in the thick of it, you can feel like you're the only one - but as we found last night - knowing that you're not, and that it's totally normal can make you feel a lot better 🙌
When you're growing a tiny human, you have to navigate some big changes - not just physically but emotionally too. Think shifting hormones, a changing body, a lack of energy, disrupted sleep and the mental adjustment to what’s ahead. Then throw in the fact you're trying to juggle 'all-the-things' from life, that were there before you became pregnant.
Well - it's a lot.
And It’s common to experience emotional highs and lows, increased sensitivity, tearfulness, feeling a bit rage-ey (is that even a word?!) or even just a bit overwhelmed — sometimes all in the same day!
Know that you are not alone. It sounds cliche, but be kind to yourself. Perhaps slow down for a bit. Do something to nurture yourself - what do you love doing? Catching up with a good friend maybe, going for a walk in the sunshine (YES WE HAVE SOME FINALLY TODAY!) having a long bath, or popping your PJs on and snuggling under a blanket. It could just be having a good old rant to your partner or even having a cheeky afternoon nap if your day allows!
My pregnancy yoga classes provide a space to slow down, breathe and move gently - but also to share with one another too. Supporting your emotional wellbeing is just as important as supporting your body 🤍
Pregnancy is a journey — and however you’re feeling, those feelings are valid and you are always welcome in class 💖

PS If you find these feelings don't shift, are more the norm than coming and going. Mention it to your midwife. They'll be able to chat through with you too, offer a listening ear and give you some extra support if it's needed too.
You've got this mumma 🙌
