Since May is a time of renewal and new flowers blooming, it is the perfect time to stop and smell the flowers. Our laughter exercise😀 is called Flower Laughter. For this exercise, I invite you to stand up. Now act as though you are picking flowers from the ground or from a bush or a tree. As you stand up/sit up, bring the flowers to your nose and inhale. As you exhale, let out a laugh. Keep laughing until all of the breath is gone from your lungs. Then do it all again! 🤣🌺🪷🤣

April showers bring May flowers. I hope you are all taking the time to appreciate the beauty around you. This is a great time to focus on grounding, earthing, forest baths and taking walks in nature and gardens. Getting skin in contact with the earth is very beneficial for reducing stress levels, decreasing headaches and increasing energy levels.

✨ Our live class schedule for the upcoming week, a sanctuary for our weary hearts and wandering minds. Time to plan a bit of self-care into our busy schedules. 🌿

💕 Each class is a gentle reminder to breathe, to nurture, to simply be ✨ Together, let's honour the temple of our bodies, the sanctuary of our souls 💖

In her poem "Burning the Old Year," Naomi Shihab Nye writes: "where there was something and suddenly isn’t, an absence shouts…"⁣⁣

If you have lost someone you love, you will relate to that. No one can fully prepare for the shock of discovering that something that was there and suddenly is not.⁣⁣ Their absence shouts from every pore in your body, every whisper of your heart. Nowhere is off limits.⁣⁣

After Anton died, I couldn't shake the feeling of waiting. I expected him to simply walk back in. Walk back into the kitchen from the his computer while I stirred a pot. Walk back into the house after taking his bike for a spin. His absence from my life is a continuous echo of disbelief.

The waves of loss distort the future we had planned. When I found Anton on the bathroom floor, my whole life changed in that instant. The change was permanent and didn't just affect "now", it affects all my "nows" forever.

One of the things that immediately changed was that I stopped posting on this page. I will continue making posts here in the future, just as I continue teaching yoga. Wishing whoever reads this and is grieving, much strength and love.

April is a month to pause, reflect, and enjoy. Allowing yourself to just be and not take action can be a challenge for most people. We live in a society where being busy is a status symbol and your worth can feel like it is directly related to your productivity levels. This month I want to encourage you to find moments of stillness and savour the present moment in all your activities. Be fully present in everything you do and turn your busy mind over to focusing on the task at hand and finding gratitude for the opportunity. You are more privileged than you realize and there are other people in the world that would be envious of the life you have. Acknowledging this can help you shift from the mindset that you “have to” do something into the attitude that you “get to” do something. Even a mundane activity like brushing your teeth can be a special moment of loving your body with appreciation and gratitude if you are fully present. Not everyone has their teeth, not everyone has access to dental care, not everyone has running water. Be grateful.
