Most football injuries don’t happen at the start of the game. ⚽

They happen when you’re tired.

Late in matches — or later in the season — fatigue starts to build up:

⏱️ Your reactions slow down
💥 You can’t produce the same force
⚠️ Your movement mechanics break down

And that’s when injury risk increases.

That “heavy legs” feeling isn’t just fatigue —
it’s reduced control.

This is why we see more:
• Hamstring strains
• Calf injuries
• Ankle sprains

…especially towards the end of the season.

The mistake most players make?
They try to push through it and ignore the warning signs.

But fatigue + poor mechanics is where most injuries happen.

If you’re playing football around Farnborough and starting to feel those late-season niggles, don’t wait until you’re out for weeks.

Get it checked early and stay available. ✅

You rarely see something like this…

In the first 10 minutes of a UEFA Champions League match between Galatasaray SK and Liverpool FC, Victor Osimhen appears to sustain a clear arm fracture… yet continues playing until half-time.

From a medical perspective, this raises some serious questions 👇

• Was there a thorough on-pitch assessment?
• Should the player have been allowed to continue?
• Who makes the final call — the player, physio, or manager?

As clinicians, the priority is always player safety — not just getting them through the game.

Because in a situation like this, one more fall could turn a manageable injury into something far more serious.

This is where strong medical decision-making is crucial.

What’s your take — should he have come off immediately? 👇

If your hamstrings always feel tight… they might not actually be tight. 🤔

A lot of people stretch their hamstrings every day, hoping the tightness will go away. And sometimes it feels better for a short time… but then it comes straight back.

That’s often because the issue isn’t flexibility — it’s protective tension.

Your nervous system increases muscle tension when it doesn’t feel strong or stable enough in that range.

So, if the hamstrings don’t feel strong or controlled, the body tightens them up to protect the area.

That’s why, in many cases, the solution isn’t just more stretching — it’s building strength and control through that range. 💪

Exercises like RDLs, hamstring eccentrics, and single-leg work can help improve your capacity so the muscles don’t feel like they need to guard.

Fix the cause. Not just the feeling. ✅

If your hamstrings constantly feel tight when you train, it might be worth looking at strength, load, and movement patterns, not just flexibility.

Shin splints are one of the most common injuries we see in runners. 🏃‍♂️

And with marathon season coming up, they tend to appear when training mileage suddenly increases.

Shin splints usually develop when the load placed on your lower leg increases faster than your tissues can adapt. 📈

Common causes include:

• Sudden increases in running mileage
• Harder running surfaces
• Weak calves or lower-leg muscles
• Poor load management

A lot of runners try to stretch through the pain or just keep running… but that often makes the problem worse.

Instead, the focus should be on:
✔️ Managing training load
✔️ Strengthening the lower leg
✔️ Improving running capacity gradually

Catch it early, and you can usually keep training.

Ignore it, and it can quickly turn into weeks off running. ⛔

If you’re training for a race and starting to feel pain along the shin, getting it assessed early can make a huge difference.
