Having spent more than 30 years competing in a variety of sports including football, table tennis, hockey, running and tae kwon-do; I know first-hand how frustrating and sometimes devastating it can be to get injured. Unfortunately many of us will experience some form of injury - most often a soft tissue injury, but very few people receive the right treatment plans to ensure a full recovery and prevent future injuries.
Following on from a 20-year career in sports marketing promoting commercial partnerships and athlete participation in sport; I now focus on helping athletes of all abilities to stay fit, healthy and active to continue doing the sports they love. Everybody is an athlete - whether you represent your country, walk Park Run on the weekend and everything in -between. Your love of sport & exercise and how it makes you feel means you are an athlete; and sports massage can help you stay healthy, injury free and reduce recovery times to ensure you remain active for as long as possible.
For me, a treatment plan has to be bespoke to the individual I am treating. The massage techniques used and pressure levels applied differs by person, by body and by injury. Initial consultation including full posture and range of movement analysis is key to developing a treatment plan as the cause of the injury or discomfort is often not the site of pain. A sports massage on tight calf muscles may provide instant relief from pain, but if the problem is under-firing glutes then the long-term issue has not been addressed. This common-sense and anatomy based approach to sports massage is absolutely key to my business.
I am a fully qualified and insured Sports Massage Therapist and have successfully completed ITEC Levels 3 and 4 in Sports Massage Therapy. I also hold professional qualifications in Myofascial Cupping, Anatomy & Physiology, First Aid and Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment & Management of Injuries in Football (The FA); as well as numerous business based professional qualifications from University of Sheffield, Yonsei University (South Korea) and Harvard Business School.
