This year's World Environment Day focuses on solutions to reduce plastic pollution

Part of our programme, Polyco Healthline is bringing this issue to the forefront of its business. For us, the challenge of sustainable transformation is balancing the need to keep our business in motion while making changes to reach our sustainability ambitions.

First in the UK market to pack our industrial gloves in paper, it allowed us to reduce the overall weight of packaging within a case of gloves, whilst moving to a more widely recyclable material. By printing our user instructions on the packaging, we were able to further reduce weight, and also remove the need for an extra instruction’s booklet.

Over the course of this year, we will be adding to our range of paper packed products, and expect that once this project is completed we will be removing over 20 TONNES of plastic from our product packaging sold out per year.

Part of our Roadmap, we have pledged to restore and protect vulnerable natural habitats in partnership with conservation and wildlife charity Marine Conservation Society

We've partnered with MCS to help the protection of our oceans and PHL are committed to MCS’s vision of seas full of life. As part of this we are conducting and survey events throughout the year in our collective fight against marine litter.

With this week, we've teamed up with customers and organised a joint event in Old Hunstanton beach. We collected over 21kgs. What a great day, Well done all!

We are supporting a local rewilding project close to our head office in Bourne part of our pledge.

We thought we'd keep you up to date on our plastic bottle recycling scheme as it's #GlobalRecyclingDay. We have now diverted over 194,000 plastic water bottles from landfills and these very same bottles have been converted into #PolyflexEco gloves. That's nearly 2 tonnes of plastic waste repurposed in just under 2 years since we launched our range of rPET gloves. Great to see so many of you embracing the change and adopting a greener way of protecting your hands.
