We are pleased to announce that there will be some exciting new changes being made to the home over the coming weeks. A professional interior designer will be working within the home to make some improvements with the goal of making the living space more suitable for those with dementia and/or visual impairments.
While we ordinarily would take a long time to organise something like this and gather the thoughts of as many people as possible, we have instead decided to get started on this as soon as possible, so that it will benefit the residents even if the worst should happen and COVID makes a return in the Autumn.
It is our goal that the new look of the home will brighten up certain areas and make them more colourful and visually appealing than they currently are. Certain colours have been shown to have a positive impact on those with dementia, such as yellow, red, green, and blue. By having contrasting colours, it will be far easier for our residents to see certain objects, such as call bells or light switches, as well as making it more obvious where the steps of the stairs are.
This redecoration will be starting on Monday 23rd of August. The first area to be redecorated will be the Main Entrance and Welcome Area. As such, this entrance will not be accessible for a time. Therefore, we will be temporarily moving the Welcome Area to the Extension Lounge on the right side of the building. For those visiting on or after this date, please ring the doorbell as normal so we are aware of your arrival. A member of staff will then direct you to the new Welcome Area for you to sign in and/or perform your COVID test. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and signs will be placed on the front door and in the existing welcome area.
As we move forward with this redecoration, we will of course do our best to eliminate any risks while ensuring that inconveniences are to a minimum, though it is impossible for us to go through this process without some level of inconvenience. We thank you for your patience and understanding while this process is ongoing.
