Understanding Your Spine: Movement, Posture & Spinal Health 🌀

Your spine is stronger (and smarter) than you think.

Made up of vertebrae and discs, it works like a spring—absorbing shock and helping you move with ease. That natural S-shaped curve? It’s not a flaw, it’s a feature. It helps distribute load, adapt to movement, and keep everything balanced.
But here’s the key: your spine is designed to move.

Not stay stuck in one position all day.

When movement is limited or repetitive, things can start to feel stiff, tight, or uncomfortable. The good news? Small changes make a big difference:
✨ Shift your posture regularly
✨ Move in different ways throughout the day
✨ Keep things varied and gentle
Your body thrives on variety.
And if something feels “stuck” or just not quite right, osteopathy can help identify what’s getting in the way—supporting your body to move and adapt more freely again.

Ever wondered what dry needling actually does? 🪡

It’s a targeted way to release tight, stubborn muscle knots that don’t ease with stretching or osteo/massage 💪

show how it works by treating “trigger points” - small, irritable areas in muscle that can cause pain, stiffness, and even discomfort in other parts of the body.

A fine needle is gently placed into the tight area to create a controlled healing response 🌿

This helps increase blood flow, relax the muscle, and reset tension from within.
We usually leave the needle in for 4–5 minutes ⏱️ giving the tissue time to calm and start repairing.

Benefits can include:
✨ Less pain and tightness
✨ Better movement
✨ Improved muscle function
✨ Faster recovery

Mild redness or bruising afterwards 👀 is often just part of the healing process - your body responding in the right way.
It’s simple, effective, and nothing to be afraid of 😊

Suffer with TMJ? and Jaw Pain

Headaches that just won’t shift? 🤔

Jaw clicking, pain when chewing, discomfort when yawning, tension, headaches, even ear popping these symptoms are often more connected than you think.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) links your jaw to your skull and works closely with your neck and surrounding muscles. When it’s not moving well, it can lead to a surprising range of issues, including persistent headaches.

The good news? TMJ dysfunction is something our osteopaths assess and treat regularly.

If this sounds familiar, it’s worth getting it checked. Your jaw does have ‘pop’ up with it 😉💬

Come along to our Meadowside team alignment day 🤩

We take time out of clinic to step back, reset, and focus on something just as important as patient care — the team behind it all.

We started with a vision mapping session, taking a step back to understand where we’re heading and how we work best together as a team, aligning on goals and the direction of the clinic.

Then we headed outside to make the most of the sunshine ☀️

✔️The forest segways were a highlight — fast, fun, and definitely more “hold on and hope for the best” than we expected 😂 a proper laugh and a great reset away from clinic.

We even finished with certificates to mark the day.

To wrap things up, we headed next door to our sister clinic, for a game of padel

Thankfully, no injuries were picked up… always a bonus.

A really valuable day with a great team, and a reminder of the culture we’re continuing to build at Meadowside.

And just a reminder — Meadowside Sports Therapy are based upstairs at

3 Effective Calf Stretches for Better Flexibility 👇

Tight calves? This can help improve flexibility, ankle mobility, and overall movement.

1️⃣ Floor stretch
Place a pillow under your ankle and use a band or towel to gently pull your foot back. Hold for 10-second activations and repeat 3–5 times.

2️⃣ Standing stretch
Lift your toes up, sink into your hips, and hinge forward slightly while keeping your chest lifted and posture strong.

3️⃣ Wall stretch
Both feet facing forward, sink into your hips until you feel the stretch through your calf. Hold for 10–30 seconds, or add a gentle bounce to explore more range.
