Yesterday, I spent a beautiful day at the beach with friends.
The tide was out, and I was captivated by the seaweed in the sand pools - it reminded me of the nervous system.

The colours were stunning, and the seaweed's slow, rhythmic motion was gentle and soothing.
It made me realize the importance of building our vagal tone and exercising our nervous systems slowly and compassionately.

Trauma can leave us feeling stuck ,anxious and unsafe.

I'm excited to be learning the science and exploring ways to overcome trauma, to build nervous system capacity and live life fully.

A fabulous example of nature’s inspiration 🙏

This young competitive Hypermobile cheerleader came to see me this week .

She is one of the bases in the team, this is one of the people whose job it is to provide the secure stable foundation and have the ability to generate force in order to propel the flyer upward in stunts.

As you can see her spine has lots of backward motion and is currently hurting.

Recognising that cheer makes her feel good and provides important connection ,as she works largely from home, we are working together to resolve the back pain and also to ensure she is strong, stable and resilient within a body which is naturally bendy.

No lists of exercises- creative fun, meaningful bespoke physio rehab.

Testimonial in Inbox.🙏

Nina has been great - can’t recommend her enough!

I went to Nina a few months ago having struggled with plantar fasciitis for a while. I had tried a different physio and home remedies but unfortunately nothing seemed to be working. Turns out it was only unfortunate I hadn’t discovered Nina earlier!

She has been very cheerful and positive whilst also being focused and professional. I appreciated her clarity about next steps and what to specifically focus on.
I was impressed with her whole body holistic approach which not only speeded up my injury recovery but has helped me improve my general fitness and wellbeing as whole.

Would thoroughly recommend Nina!

Feeling a bit Potsy!

This was something one of my patients with EDS ( Ehlers Danlos syndrome )reported this week.

POTS short for Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is well documented in people with EDS and HSD.

It is a condition that causes a number of symptoms when transitioning from lying down or sitting to standing, such as a fast heart rate, dizziness and fatigue.

Normally your autonomic nervous system controls your blood pressure and heart rate, no matter of your body’s position but people with POTS can feel very out of sorts as their body’s balancing system is affected.

There is no cure for POTS But here are a few things you can do to help manage the symptoms especially in the hot weather we have had recently.
Keep well hydrated,
Ensure you have enough salt in your diet.

Eat small and balanced meals rather than big meals so that your systems energy isn’t being diverted to digesting a big meal
Avoid alcohol- it dehydrates
Keep cool if the weather is hot.- shower with lukewarm water - not really hot or cold
Take your time when getting up from lying or sitting and avoid long periods of standing.

POTS involves the automatic nervous system so prioritising nervous system regulation and better managing life’s stresses is a very good idea.

An afternoon alone on the beach.

Solo time after my SE course and beautiful shared time with my children.

Being with the sound of the sea and breeze and present with all of me.

I am surrounded by stones of Black- White and in between. Yin and Yang

Contemplating the duality in life ,the importance of nervous system regulation and building the capacity to hold opposites.

Light and Dark

Love and Loss

Pain and Ease

Laughter and Tears

Sadness and Joy

Full and Empty

Poverty and Wealth

Greed and Generosity

Known and unknown

Music and Silence

Movement and Stillness

I feel grateful for my health,
gratitude for family and amazing friendships, for purpose ,
for Mother Nature.

And in a world with so much turmoil and unrest right now, I’m filled with immense Gratitude for this peaceful sun filled Golden moment on the beach in Cyprus .

Today I travel to Edinburgh for the first module of a 3 year training in Somatic Experiencing.

Pioneered by Dr Peter Levine,Somatic Experiencing (SE™) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems
My interest in this work comes from years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist, seeing first hand just how stress and trauma can be held in the body and affect all aspects of our lives.

My work and my personal experience over the years has led me to this important work.

And now I am stepping out of my routine for a while, super excited to start this learning journey.

New experiences, New learning, New connections, all in a city that I am visiting for the first time.💃🏼💡
I hope to proceed with grace, strength, curiosity and of course, compassion for myself and others.

Here’s to a trauma informed and holistic approach to medicine, health and wellbeing, to understanding and befriending our nervous systems and to doing stuff that lights you up.☀️💡🥂

I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Nina Robinson’s physiotherapy/wellbeing skills.

4 years ago I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and underwent chemotherapy and a stemcell transplant.
The cancer damaged my bones, and as a result the muscles and therefore mobility
All of this has resulted in numerous aches and pains which have curtailed many activities.

However after only 8 sessions spread over 15 weeks, Nina has already made significant inroads to my recovery; where others have failed.
Nina’s methods are gentle, considered, and involve the mind, body and soul to achieve results.

Thank you Nina, I look forward to the remaining programme!
Whichever scale is chosen to measure results by, you pass with honours!
