scenes from a week that was tender, tough, and utterly beautiful.

Loved watching you all move!

Something tweaked in my body this week between Plane #6 and Seat #108 & it decided to start a protest & give me a glimpse of my 100-year-old body!

So here’s a peak at some most beautiful awesome stuff happening on the platform from everyone else! Someone also caught a video of my animated teaching - wot is happening there on slide 12🤪

Anyway!
Thank you for opening your ears to me; for translating cues when needed, for demoing, for helping each other when I was busy tending to someone else on the other side of the room.

This community spirit held me together from way before we arrived here..
how flipping lucky am I???

What a retreat!
I had a long time dream of creating a space where friends from both sides of the world could meet, practise, laugh, and exchange stories

Looking across the room each day and seeing a tapestry of age, bodies, colours, energies, and stories woven together felt like a dream made real in the biggest way.

Having Aunty Kwan with us was so uplifting! At 72 rocking every session- meditation, strong practice, core cultivation & restorative, always with a big smile! She was everyone’s fav!

& the creatures….
they added to the fullness of this experience for me; the cockerels, hens, ducks, geckos, lizards, chatty cats…

I have no words big enough for what you all created together!

From every gathering, I gain insights and lessons about myself —
and this one, wows!!
Thank you for this joyful, heart-full experience!

Till we meet again in the flow!

When creating a class, my main thought is always towards what my purpose(s) are..

eg:

Can you identify the theme or intention of this sequence?
 Or guess what the intended peak pose/s will be?
 Do you spot the unnecessary poses that I have thrown in?

Or are there any poses that could enhance this experience or understanding?
 Can you identify the kramas..
 Or where in the flow to teach key actions?

Personally, there’s no “right” or “wrong” in designing a flow but if you’re feeling stuck in the creative process of sequencing or if this sparks something in you, come join me at this 16th January

These past few months have been wildly beautiful. Thank you for trusting me to hold space for you, your friends , your communities, and your events.

I’ve learnt so much, laughed, cried, made new friends & gathered experiences & memories I know I’ll carry for a long time!

Eighteen years into this path and truthfully, i still jump with excitement at your invitations — grand or humble, structured, spontaneous & even the chaotic!

most of all,
to all the fire walkers,
it is an honour to witness your strength
& receive your stories-
these are etched in my heart…

I don’t always get tagged in things like this, but when I do it’s usually a laugh — and this one ended up being the perfect metaphor for my life lately.

Knot 1: I pushed too far and lost the balance — as life goes!
Knot 2: Couldn’t hold it at all, but I still got a shot from it — sometimes we just need a pinch of luck 😉

A couple of weeks ago I realised I’d tied myself into a little knot. Nothing dramatic, just that quiet internal twist that happens when everything feels a bit too much.
My whole body followed. Knotted thoughts, knotted breath, knotted muscles — knotted everything.
Ouch.

Then, after a few totally casual chats with friends (you know who you are),
everything just… unravelled!  They literally picked it all up in just a matter of days. whaaat??

I was so overwhelmed by how held I felt that it took me a few moments to process it all.. What a wild, beautiful blessing to have in life….

sequential steps
or stages in practicing..
it teaches the practice;
emphasising a mindful,
organised approach to movement,
ensuring each pose or sequence builds on the previous one.

It’s so nice up here I felt a pull to share something. My practice led me here to one of my fav ways to build towards chin stand - Ganda Bherundasana, a deep back bend + inversion..

This is the peak section of the practice (after “warm up” flows)
I had to bail on one intended krama as it was not happening today..

not to diminish my effort in any way..
I might look impressive here, but honestly, my chest is quite far from the ground & I’m doing what’s easier for me. It was a dream to get my chest down but I’ve not committed to this so it is still as it is 😅

Anyway
move slowly
experience everything
moment to moment to moment

𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦

It’s been a while since I had a long asana practice — or rocked transitions like this — where was i trying to go? Never mind, my body was not going to go there 😝

I thought I’d carry this practice to today’s teacher gathering. Not many showed up this time but i knew these guys would 🥰
And I didn’t take the practice here, but we we took a route I love just as much

More importantly, I enjoyed our discussions. As teachers, we don’t get enough opportunities gather to connect, share perspectives, & support each through our doubts, questions, etc. When I was more stationary, we had a strong, vibrant group — and I’m even more determined now to make these gatherings happen better

𝓈𝒽𝒽𝒽 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺

When you listen closely, stories open your heart, ignite your spirit, and settle into your wisdom.

I am so grateful & excited for my current schedule of events .. This being the first .. felt like a homecoming!
familiar & energising;
grounded by the mountains
uplifted by these amazing people

I always sense a privilege to be among these women;
to bathe in their friendship, strength, generosity & love for each other ..
Like a bird dropped in to listen in & embrace their energy for a sweet moment

I’m reminded that life is a tapestry of many stories unfolding simultaneously. Just as the world’s chaos and beauty coexist, so do our personal challenges and joys.

We may feel hesitant to share our brightness when the world’s troubles are so loud. But life’s stories are intertwined in both darkness and light. Sharing our joys, our wins, and our love isn’t neglecting the hard realities; it’s a reminder that amidst chaos, hope and beauty still exist.

Thank you for another great year!! 🫶🏼

Having support is fab when we’re working towards a challenge ..
much like the walls that make us feel safe when working to find strength in the balance between reliance and independence.

But when we cling too tightly to walls
& can’t find the courage to let go,
they can transform from safety into hesitation,
keeping us bound to what feels safe & familiar

Freedom comes when we step away from where it is comfortable …
a long process for some of us..
A daily practice to stay tenacious with those baby steps..

ɴᴏᴡ & ʙᴇꜰᴏʀᴇ

Last month, socials reminded me that in July 2010, after three years of teaching, I opened my own yoga and Pilates studio. A huge shout-out to my incredible Pilates partner who was a big part of that journey!

Back then, we weren’t taking photos of everything (I was still carrying around a SLR camera) so these are just a few treasured fragments from my phone of some instrumental people (& dog) who’s energy continues to shape mine today..

Nearly 20 years in, I still feel the same quiet gratitude each time someone walks into my class. In these unsettling times, our community anchors us! When we hold each other up, we can shoulder so much more than we ever could alone..

Gosh… when I was attempting this, my hamstrings were screaming & I made a tiny prayer that I will like the photo 😅
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these “fun” shots

Honestly, it’s been hard to feel lighthearted when the world feels so heavy…
But I’m learning (again and again) that it’s okay to hold two truths at once.
To care deeply and press to live fully.
To stay informed and still have fun.
To feel heartbroken and still laugh with your friends
& to check that I say things like that truthfully and not because I can

So here’s me… just trying my best, like most of us.

I took inspiration from Hannah , who shares these quirky poses from various challenges… she often make me do a double triple take. It took me a while to figure out how to balance this but yay, made it!

Back in the UK next week & lots of classes scheduled to share with you at Ebb & Flow, Vayu & also online. I look forward to share space and practice with you soon!
