Redness and broken blood vessels can affect more than just the appearance of your skin. For many people, they can impact confidence and how comfortable you feel without makeup.

As a nurse practitioner, I see how frustrating persistent redness can be, whether it’s caused by sensitivity, rosacea, sun exposure or visible blood vessels that don’t seem to fade on their own.

One treatment we often use to help improve this is BroadBand Light (BBL) therapy. BBL works by targeting pigment and vascular concerns in the skin, helping to reduce redness, improve overall tone and support a clearer, calmer complexion.

What makes this technology particularly interesting is the University study on BBL, which showed that regular BBL treatments can influence how certain genes in the skin behave, encouraging them to function more like younger skin.

For many patients, that means not just clearer skin now, but healthier skin behaviour over time.

If redness or visible blood vessels are something you struggle with, there are options that can help.

You can book a consultation via the link in bio to find out whether BBL could be suitable for your skin.

Micro-needling isn’t just about needles — it’s about tricking your skin into repairing itself.

Our clients and team absolutely love micro-needling at our clinic. Regular micro-needling treatments are a real game changer but results do not happen over night, your body is busy carrying out lots of responses following micro-needling. The improvements you see weeks later are the result of a series of biological changes happening beneath the surface.

Here’s how the process unfolds:

Day 1–2: The Inflammatory Phase
Immediately after treatment, the tiny micro-channels created in the skin trigger the body’s controlled inflammatory response. Blood flow increases to the area and your skin releases signalling molecules called growth factors. These signals tell the skin that repair is needed and start activating the cells responsible for healing and regeneration. This is why the skin can appear red or feel warm during the first couple of days.

Week 1: Fibroblast Activation
Once the initial inflammation settles, specialised skin cells called fibroblasts begin to activate. Fibroblasts are responsible for producing collagen, elastin and other structural proteins that give skin strength and elasticity. During this stage, the skin also begins rebuilding its extracellular matrix — the supportive framework that keeps skin firm and resilient.

Week 4: Collagen Production Begins
Around 3–4 weeks after treatment, the skin enters the proliferation phase, where newly stimulated fibroblasts begin producing fresh collagen fibres. This new collagen starts to replace damaged or fragmented collagen within the skin. At this point, patients may begin noticing gradual improvements in texture, smoothness and overall skin quality.

Week 8–12: Collagen Remodelling
Over the following weeks, the newly formed collagen becomes stronger and more organised in a process known as collagen remodelling. The skin’s structural support improves, which can lead to visible changes such as smoother texture, softer fine lines and improved skin firmness.

Because collagen production and remodelling take time, micro-needling results develop gradually over several weeks and often improve with a series of treatments.

Clinical micro-needling treatment is a real game changer for improving skin quality on the face, neck, decolletage, hands, tummy and other areas of the body. Have you tried it? Comment below if you have any questions or contact your nearest clinic.

Not using retinol? Then maybe it’s time to slowly start introducing this powerful ingredient into your skin care routine.

There are many benefits of Retinol which is one of the most studied ingredients in dermatology. It works because it actually changes how the skin cells behave at a biological level.

Our clinics can help advise on what retinol is best for your skin type but if you’re new to retinol, the key is to introduce it slowly and take time before you use it everyday.

📖 Acne Diaries - The one ingredient that could make your acne better… or worse.

In today’s Acne Diaries, Holly talks about retinol. It’s one of the most powerful ingredients used in skincare to support cell turnover, reduce congestion and help improve acne over time.

But when it’s used incorrectly, or mixed with the wrong products, it can irritate the skin rather than help it.

Retinol is a strong active ingredient, and combining it with other actives such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can sometimes overwhelm the skin barrier, especially for younger or more sensitive skin. This can lead to redness, soreness, dryness and increased irritation.

That doesn’t mean these ingredients are bad. They can all be effective when used correctly. The key is knowing how and when to use them together, and when they should be separated within a routine.

If you’re dealing with acne and using active skincare, professional guidance can make a big difference to avoid damaging the skin while still getting results.

If you’re unsure how to build the right routine for your skin, you can book a personalised skin consultation via the link in bio.

If your skin is looking dull, uneven or tired, Vitamin C could be the glow-boosting ingredient your routine is missing.

✨ What does Vitamin C help with?
• Brightening dull skin
• Reducing pigmentation and dark spots
• Supporting collagen for firmer skin
• Protecting against environmental damage
• Improving overall skin tone and radiance

⏰ When should you use it?
Vitamin C works best in the morning after cleansing and before moisturiser and SPF. It helps protect your skin throughout the day while boosting your natural glow.

⚠️ Not all Vitamin C serums are the same
The best formulas contain a stable form of Vitamin C (usually 10–20%) and are packaged to keep the ingredient active. This helps ensure you get the full brightening and antioxidant benefits.

Our recommended Vitamin C serums include:
• SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
• Medik8 C-Tetra

Consistent use can help reveal brighter, smoother, healthier-looking skin over time.

If you’re unsure which Vitamin C is right for your skin, our team is always happy to help.
