💥Shoulder Mobility💥

As a result of the majority of us being hunched over a desk, a lot of us have issues with tight shoulders!

These tight shoulders can reduce our range of motion, decrease performance and increase the risk of injury. It is also attributed to many conditions such as frozen shoulder and cervical issues.

Try this quick routine in the mornings to help loosen them shoulders and prevent injury!

💥Passovers
💥Figure of 8
💥Shoulder rotations
💥Table stretch
💥 Wall Angels

Back Mobility💥

The back can be easily overlooked and neglected!
Poor mobility, thoracic (mid back) in particular, can affect the shoulders, neck, lower back and hips. Unfortunately, daily habits and bad posture can contribute towards poor mobility especially in the thoracic spine! A high number of people work in an office where they sit hunched over a desk for hours on end! The majority of common back pain can be avoided if you move and stretch!

These are my go to, easy to complete exercises that target the thoracic and lumbar spine!

Give them a go when you wake up, even just for 5 minutes and you’ll stand up feeling a lot more free!!😃

Wellness Wednesday✨

Work in an office and got a stiff back? Shoulders rounded from sitting hunched over your desk?

Why not give this quick routine a go at your desk in between typing!

Slumping back in your chair or slouched over your desk means your spine is out of alglingement and this puts excess strain on your muscles and ligaments in your back. Over time this can lead to lower back pain, the most common work-related back problem!

Get ahead of the game and don’t let it get that far by:
✨ Doing exercise at your desk to keep moving
✨ Take regular breaks, get up and walk around
✨ Have your work station ergonomics checked to make sure it is suited to you.

Any questions, feel free to DM👍🏼

💥Trigger Point Therapy💥

Myofasical trigger points that are found in the muscle and fascia. These are tense, painful areas in the muscles. They can be found anywhere in the body and are one of the most common causes for chronic musculoskeletal pain.

I love to include trigger point therapy within my sports massage. It can be uncomfortable but the benefits outweigh any pain and discomfort!

Benefits of Trigger Point Therapy
💥Reduce pain
💥Release knots/trigger points
💥Improve movement and flexibility
💥Improve muscle function
💥Enhance Circulation

▫️Mobility Monday’s▪️

First up... HIP MOBILITY🏋🏼‍♀️

Hip mobility is crucial for all movement! Having tight muscles can impede an individual's range of motion. Improving your hip mobility can allow athletes to become more powerful and perform athletic movements efficiently.

For a non-athlete, having mobile hips is just as important as it can prevent and help lower back pain! If your hips are tight, the lower back can tend to overcompensate resulting in pain.

A simple hip mobility and stretch series you could try:
🔸 Hip Circles
🔸 Frog Stretch (can roll back and forth)
🔸 Adductor Roll Backs
🔸 Internal/ External Rotations
🔸 Pigeon Stretch
🔸 MTT Stretch

Give it a go for 30 seconds - 1 minute on each exercise! You’ll be walking away a change person😅

Watch out for more Mobility Monday’s every week✨

Wellness Wednesdays✨

Foam rolling - the devil or your best friend😈

Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release technique. It is great for working into tight muscles that may be causing problems with joints and mobility.

It is also great for working into soft tissue called fascia. Fascia is tissue that connects your muscles together to provide support throughout your body. Fascia should be mobile as it is elastic. However, it can become tight and restrict movement, causing pain usually from an increase in exercise intensity or poor posture.

Benefits of foam rolling:
▫️ Reduce muscle soreness
▪️Improves flexibility and range of movement
▫️Help your fascia to function
▪️Prevents injury and boost performance.

Although foam rolling can hurt and be uncomfortable during, you will feel so much better after!😃
