Our Story
Welcome to our page! We have been tucked away here in Jacob Yard since 1985 so we are now the longest established opticians practice in Faversham. Dont think of us as old and stuffy though! We are still young, enthusiastic and vibrant with the latest in technology and constantly refreshed and updated eyewear collections!
We believe in using qualified staff, both Dispensing Opticians and Optometrists, as well as trained Optical Assistants to give you access to friendly, clear, unbiased advice. Obviously we like to sell exciting things but we will spend as much time with you as you want and offer jargon free explanations about lens ‘add ons’ and what their benefit to you and your vision would be. We do NOT have sales targets of any kind, you will never be ‘sold’ something without knowing why! We love happy customers!!
We offer the best in Optometry. Our optometrist partner, Yegi, has done specialist training that allows her to work closely with the hospital on Emergency Eyecare (unfortunately only on the NHS through Swale & Medway Health Trusts at present), Glaucoma monitoring schemes and direct cataract referrals. As well as standard eye examinations and contact lens appointments we offer OCT retinal scans & dry eye clinics.
We have specialist clinics for Visual Stress, sometime also called Meares Irlen Syndrome. We offer free assessments to investigate pattern glare causing reading difficulties and further appointments to investigate the need for colour overlays and individually prescribed precision tints for glasses with our Colorimeter. We routinely find improvements in reading speed and accuracy of 30% or more. The same technology can also help some types of migraine, visual loss after stroke and Charles Bonnet syndrome. Our dispensing optician partner Cathy is always happy to talk to you about any of this.
