Emma is a friend and colleague. She has over 25 years experience as an excellent Osteopath to take to Kenya. This is a regular trip for her, she has taken her son in the past and now her daughter, Jemima. They take suitcases full of stuff that we take for granted, personal hygiene products, combs, brushes, colouring books and pens for the children. It's a tough trip, physically and mentally and I know it has a strong effect on all the volunteers trying to help.
This is no luxury trip, they travel in an old bus and sleep in basic shelter or under canvas wherever they end up. No flash treatment rooms, just wherever they can find shelter from the extreme sun in the Masai Mara Reserve. Often hanging blankets from a tree to create a treatment room and a little privacy. Their patients are truly desperate for help and think nothing of walking for several days across the Masai Mara to get treatment.
My point is that this is really important work and desperately needed. If you could just donate the price of a coffee and cake it would be greatly appreciated by Emma and Jemima-and myself-Thanks!π
