On Monday of this week we received a spot inspection by the National Association of Funeral Directors.

Extremely pleased to say that we passed our inspection with absolutely no issues.

The National Association of Funeral Directors is a trade body that we have been members of for some years.

What does an inspection actually entail?

Our premises are scrutinised, the areas where we care for loved ones are inspected, our record keeping, the process for bringing people into our care, paperwork, having the correct documentation in place.

For me, this is an absolute must. Being members of the NAFD is an indication to the public and fellow professional organisations that we work with that we are a bona-fide, dedicated, professional business.

When arranging a funeral service and looking to entrust a funeral director, make sure you look out for NAFD logo.

There is a code of practice that we adhere to and are always notified of any changes and updates to our profession. ❤️

Ozzy Osbourne has died "surrounded by love" at the age of 76, a statement from his family said.

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family said in a statement.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Osbourne had Parkinson's disease and had suffered other health problems in recent years, including complications from injuries sustained in a fall in 2019.

He leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and their children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack, as well his two older children, Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and grandchildren.

Today, 13th July 2025 marks exactly 10 years to the day that I opened the doors to my very own funeral home.

The past ten years have seemingly flown by.

In the very first week of being open, two families came to see me and from that moment on we've continued to serve and be there when called upon.

We've made so many friends along the way. It's lovely when people call in and let us know how they are and to make time to listen to them.

Myself and the team continue to evolve, always making sure that the service we provide is the best it can be.

Being part of our community, being involved in local events, supporting charities and being there when needed is a huge part of our culture here.

Thank you to all of those families who have entrusted us with their loved ones.

Thank you to those that have and continue to believe in what we do and how we do things.

To those that have sadly lost loved ones, our thoughts continue to be with you.

To those that have visited us to help arrange their own funerals, be it for peace of mind or due to devastating news received, we thank you for trusting us and being there on your journey.

We love the work we do, we're extremely passionate about it and never take anything for granted.

Thank you. ❤️

Fans have described a mural to Liverpool forward Diogo Jota near Anfield stadium as "absolutely class" after his death in a car crash.

The words 'Forever 20', a reference to the Portuguese national's squad number, were painted onto a gable-end wall on Sybil Road near the stadium in white lettering against a black background on Tuesday 8th July.

The piece, by street art collective Murwalls, has since taken on a life of its own as fans added their own messages of remembrance. ❤️

🇬🇧🇵🇹 Why do funerals in the UK take so much longer than in Portugal?

It’s a question many have asked today as we mark the funeral of Portuguese International footballer Diogo Jota, held just a few days after his tragic death.

In Portugal, it’s common for funerals to take place within 24–48 hours, whereas here in the UK it can be 14-21 days or more. Why?

📜 We are bound by legal and official processes in the UK.
Before a funeral can take place here, the death must be formally registered. If the death was unexpected or unexplained, a coroner or post-mortem may also be required — and we cannot proceed until these investigations are completed. These processes are essential but can add days, even weeks, to the timeline.

🌡️ Climate & tradition — In Portugal’s warmer climate and Catholic culture, funerals have traditionally happened quickly, both for practical reasons and as a mark of respect.

🕊️ Time to plan — British funerals tend to be more personalised and elaborate, giving families time to gather, arrange a service, flowers, music and more.

📅 Availability — Crematoria and venues in the UK can also be very busy, which means waiting for the next available slot.

So while it can feel frustrating to wait so long here compared to places like Portugal, much of it comes down to law, authority, and culture — not choice.

Today’s service for Diogo Jota reminds us that no matter the timeline, what matters most is the honouring of a life.

🙏 Rest in peace, Diogo and André.

Liverpool will pay the remaining two years of Diogo Jota’s contract to his family, according to Record in Portugal, as the club continues to support the loved ones of the late forward in the wake of his tragic death.

The 28-year-old passed away on Thursday alongside his brother Andre Silva following a car accident in northern Spain.

Since then, the club’s response has gone beyond tributes, with numerous players, staff and executives travelling to Gondomar for the funeral.

Record reports that the club has made a financial commitment to Jota’s family, pledging to honour his current contract in full.

What a great signing by Ipswich Town Football Club.

Lot's of messages have been received this afternoon and I think I'm into double figures now. 😄😊

We will be looking at sponsoring an ITFC player this coming season once more, wouldn't it be ironic if this were to be our sponsored player!! 💙🤍🙂

Everyone at Ipswich Town is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Diogo and his brother André.

Our thoughts are with their families, friends, colleagues at Liverpool & Portugal, and all who loved them.
