📢 Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September at 3pm 📢

The government will be testing a new UK-wide Emergency Alert system. At 3pm, a message will automatically appear on the screen of compatible mobile phones, along with a loud siren and vibration even if your device is set to silent.

⚠️ For people who keep a hidden phone for safety, this unexpected alert could reveal the device and put them in danger.

If this applies to you or someone you know, the alerts can be switched off:
🔹 On iPhone – open Settings, search “Emergency Alerts”, and toggle off Extreme and Severe alerts
🔹 On Android – open Settings, search “Emergency Alerts”, and switch off the alert types listed

Calling all SCBU parents! 📣

We’re planning our first ever Special Care focused 15 Steps walk around. If your baby has received care in SCBU, we would love to hear from you.

The suggested date is Thursday 17 July - time TBC. If you would like to join us and are available then, please email your interest to gateshead@matvoices.uk.

The session will last a couple of hours and will involve a walk around the special care baby unit.
