St Hilda’s Remembrance Service, Ashford

Last night we were honoured to welcome over 140 people to St Hilda’s Church for our annual Remembrance Service. A special opportunity to pause, reflect and remember loved ones no longer with us.

It was wonderful to see the church full, with a warm and supportive atmosphere throughout. Our sincere thanks to Fr Julius, the St Hilda’s choir, and the whole church team for helping us create such a poignant and meaningful service. The soloist and choir were truly beautiful.

We were deeply moved by the messages we received afterwards, including this kind reflection from one family:

“How wonderful to see the church full, a testimony to Lodge Brothers and their continued excellent service to our community.
The lighting of the candle was especially poignant and enabled us to focus on our loved ones and what they mean to us personally. Please convey our appreciation to everyone for such a special evening.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope the service brought comfort, connection, and a moment of peace as we remembered together.

Sheila Kane and her team, Helen and Amanda, delivered a beautiful Remembrance Service at The Burroughs Care Home on Wednesday 26 November.

The service honoured residents who had passed away, as well as their families and friends, and also paid tribute to the dedicated care staff.

Working alongside Alison, the Lifestyle Lead, we helped those attending to reflect on and remember their loved ones. Each person was given a yellow rose, a memory pin and a commemorative booklet to support their feelings and memories.

Alison noted how important these moments are for residents and families to acknowledge their emotions.

The afternoon was made even more special with music from Jim Reeves and Bette Midler, which many joined in with.

A truly heartfelt occasion.

Proud moment for all of us at Lodge Brothers.

We’ve just reached 5,000 Trustpilot reviews and maintained our 5.0 “Excellent” rating.

In our world, trust isn’t optional. Families turn to us at the most difficult moments of their lives, and any slip in care or attention can have real consequences. That’s why this milestone matters. It reflects thousands of experiences where our teams have shown respect, compassion, professionalism and patience when it mattered most.

A huge thank you to our colleagues across every branch, in every role. Your consistency, compassion and calm under pressure are what families remember.

And thank you to every family who has taken the time to share their feedback. We never take that trust for granted.

We are committed to maintaining the same high standards with a continued focus on doing the right thing, every time.

Flower of the Month - September

There are two flowers of month for September: the Aster and the Morning Glory.

Aster: Symbolising wisdom, love, and faith, asters bring a sense of calm and reflection as we move into autumn. Their star-shaped blooms remind us of light and guidance, even as the days grow shorter.

Morning Glory: Known for their vibrant colours and blossoms that represent affection and renewal.

Together, these flowers offer a message of hope, remembrance, and love that endures, perfect sentiments for this gentle change of season.

Celebrating Young Creativity in Brentford
Lodge Brothers were delighted to support the Creative Mile, Brentford Art Trail Youth Competition this year. We donated the prizes and had the privilege of helping to judge the fantastic entries.
Our Brentford arranger Catherine Smith, along with Mark Pearce (Creative Director for the Creative Mile) and our District Manager, Nic Bisiker, had the honour of awarding prizes to the talented young artists yesterday outside our Brentford branch.
All of the wonderful artwork will be proudly displayed at Brentford School for Girls throughout the Creative Mile weekend, and we encourage everyone to visit and enjoy the creativity of our local young people.

Lodge Brothers Marks EO Day with a First!
Happy EO Day!

Today marks 13 years since Employee Ownership was signed into law and what a journey it’s been. From just 152 employee-owned businesses back then to over 2,250 today, the movement is growing fast.

We’re proud to say that Lodge Brothers was the first funeral directors in the UK to become employee owned, helping protect the values and high standards that have guided our family business for over eight generations.

To celebrate EO Day 2025, we held our first ever Employee Forum meeting giving our team a stronger voice in shaping the future of our business and the services we offer to families.

Our future is in good hands – ours!

Rain Didn’t Stop the Picnic at Merlewood!

Despite the weather moving the picnic indoors, our District Manager Shelia Kane and Funeral Arranger Chris had a wonderful afternoon at Merlewood Care Home today. The grand drawing room played host to a lovely get-together, complete with packed lunches, goodie bags, and plenty of community spirit.

It was a pleasure to connect with local care home staff, community carers, physiotherapists, and other members of the team. We also met their brilliantly decorated duck, all ready for the Staines Thames Duck Race—complete with a hair net and string of pearls to represent their fabulous facilities!

We were proud to contribute raffle prizes for Merlewood’s upcoming Open Event on 12th July, and as always, we value opportunities to build relationships and support our local community.
