The doctor handed her overweight patient a bottle of pills. "Don't swallow these pills," she said. "Instead, spill them on the floor three times a day and pick them up one by one." 😂😂😂

But seriously many times it's the little things that make the biggest difference. Parking the other end of the car park rather than next to the door, taking the stairs vs an elevator, chosing an apple rather than candy.

50-60% of the food a child eats each day should be carbohydrates.

Carbs can get a bad rep sometimes, but they are the body's main source of energy and are vital for healthy growth and development... especially in children.
That being said, make sure you are choosing slow release healthy carbs as much as possible.

MYTH BUSTER: LOW FAT DAIRY IS BETTER FOR YOU – FALSE

For years we have been advised to choose low-fat dairy products, to avoid saturated fat which can increase “bad” cholesterol and increase the risk of heart disease but is it really that straightforward?

Studies are now showing that, despite their saturated fat content, dairy foods like milk, cheese and yoghurt have a neutral or even positive effect. A 9-year study published by The Lancet has even show that those who regularly consumed full fat dairy products had lower levels of heart disease than those who didn’t.

Low-fat dairy products can also have unhealthy added ingredients, one of the main ones being sugar. As Yaffi Lvova, RDN states “The way milk comes from a cow, there’s a balance of fat, protein, and natural sugar, When we micromanage that natural nutrition by decreasing the fat, we increase the sugar by volume while also throwing off the balance that’s most advantageous to digestion and absorption.”

FRESH AIR FOR BETTER EYESIGHT???

We all know the importance of vitamin D but can spending time outdoors have even greater health impacts as well? Studies show the more time outside the less your child's risk of developing nearsightedness.

A cambridge study compiled research from over 10,000 children and adolescents, and found that for each additional hour children spent outdoors every week, their risk of developing nearsightedness fell by 2 percent! Seems like a pretty cost effective and fun way to give your child's vision the best chance.
