💚 January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 💚
Each year, around 3,250 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK, and it can affect people of all ages. The good news is that the UK cervical screening programme saves an estimated 5,000 lives every year.
Cervical screening is not a test to diagnose cancer – it’s a test designed to help prevent it. The screening checks for high-risk HPV, and if it’s found, looks for any cell changes that can be treated early, before cervical cancer develops.
If you’ve received your invitation but are feeling unsure or nervous about booking your appointment, these websites offer clear, reassuring information and advice:

If you’re due, consider booking your screening — it really could save your life. 💚
