We continued our celebration of Kerala’s vibrant culture with some delicious Onam specials — crispy Banana Chips and sweet Jaggery-Coated Chips 🍌✨

We also enjoyed an adapted performance of the Thiruvathirai dance, a traditional art form that embodies grace and rhythm. The term Thiruvathirai in Tamil translates to “sacred grand wave”, beautifully symbolising unity and harmony through movement. 🌊💃

A wonderful way to experience the colours, flavours, and spirit of Kerala! 🇮🇳💛

Ferndown Town Council and the Royal British Legion, Ferndown Branch, are pleased to invite residents to the launch of our Poppy Appeal. Join us in commemorating and honouring those who served, and help us raise vital funds for our heroes.

This year's Poppy Launch in Ferndown will take place outside of the Barrington Arts and Community Centre, Pennys Walk.

What to expect:
✨ A moving parade and ceremony
🎤Speeches from distinguished guests and dignitaries
🌺 View our new poppy display
🎶 A special performance from the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band
🌺 An opportunity to make the first contributions to this year's Poppy Appeal.

We are also inviting local businesses to take part in our Window Display Competition to show their support and community spirit! Please see our page for more information.

Let’s come together, honour the brave, and make this year's Poppy Appeal Launch truly memorable.

🌴✨ We had an amazing time exploring Kerala — the beautiful home state of our Senior, Sini! 🇮🇳 She treated us to some delicious traditional sweets, shared captivating songs from her culture, and danced so gracefully in her stunning sari. 💃🎶 What a wonderful way to experience the vibrant spirit of Kerala! 💚

Happy Birthday to us!

On this day back in 1918, Dorset Blind Association was founded, first as DorsetShire County Association for the care of the Blind (DCAB). Today we’re proud to be celebrating 107 years of supporting visually impaired people across Dorset.

From our early beginnings just after the First World War to today, our mission has remained the same: helping people with sight loss live happy, independent lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey – our members, volunteers, staff, supporters, and partners.

A sunny visit to Poole Quay this week, not sure who was leading who astray!

Its not too late to join us on TUESDAY 23rd September for the Understanding Dementia Virtual experience.

Call us on 01202 147 936 to book a time to suit you.

The Virtual Dementia tour bus will be at Heathland House, Ferndown.

We have a limited number of places available to attend and we are offering professionals and family carers the experience on that day.

If you or one of your colleagues would benefit, please call us on 01202 147 936 to book a time to suit you.

If you haven’t experienced a virtual tour, it is one of the best ways to really gain an insight about what it is like for the person living with dementia, which helps us as carers or professionals to support the person in a more understanding and effective way.

The session itself lasts about 15 minutes but we suggest to allow about 30 minutes to register and perhaps enjoy a hot drink or refreshment in our Café bar. The number to call 01202 147 936
