Back to school calm starts here.

End of Summer always brings a new rhythm:

Packed Lunches, Homework, Earlier Bedtimes and the Endless To/Dos that come with it!!

Here’s the Good News ….

Yous Nervous System does not have to run on overdrive.

With The ORA, you can create small moments of Calm for both the Parents and children.

For Parents

- Take an 8 min frequency break between Drop-Off and your first email/phone call.

- Use Soundscapes to help you transition from Work Mode to Family Mode.

- Protect your evening ritual
(A calmer you = a calmer home)

For Children:

- Try Calming background frequencies during Homework for better focus.

- Build a screen-free wind-down routine before bed.

- Make bedtime a positive ritual with relaxing sounds, they can look forward to.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about squeezing more into the schedule - it’s about slowing down enough to enjoy it. 🩵

✨Back to School Anxiety✨

Back-to-school anxiety is a normal part of starting a new school year or term, and it can gradually diminish over time.

Here are some ways to help with back-to-school anxiety:

1. Preparation.
An open discussion about the upcoming academic year will encourage your child to voice their fears and anxieties.
This release is vital for children as it helps them overcome their anxiety-provoking thoughts and feelings.

2. Encourage your child to talk to their friends.
This can dispel fears and make them feel excited about going back to school.
Perhaps meet in the park and plan some social activities before they meet in the classroom.

3. Create a positive atmosphere at home by talking cheerfully about the new school year, and all the happy and good things about going back to school.

4. Take them back-to-school shopping and get things ready for the new school year will make them feel more positive and excited about going back to school. This will also give them a sense of normality.

5. Help your child plan and organise their back-to-school paraphernalia like school bag, pencil box and stationery.

6. Begin regulating their sleeping and eating schedules at least one week prior to the school reopening day. Ensuring that they get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet will help them feel relaxed and calm. Remember, lack of proper sleep and food can make children feel angry, irritable and restless.

7. Help them structure their routine. For example, getting the school bags and uniforms ready the previous night, to avoid feeling overburdened with tasks in the morning, setting a wake-up time and so on.

Remember that many children and teenagers are not their best in the mornings and they have had a long time away from the usual school routine. It may take a bit longer to readjust their internal time-clock to be able to function properly in the morning.

Try not to dismiss your child’s fears as baseless and brush them away.

Don’t just tell your child everything will be okay and they need to grow up and get on with it.

Children need to voice their fears to feel reassured.

Avoid comparing your child with children who aren’t anxious about going back to school.

Try not to get frustrated with your child in the morning if they are being slow getting ready for school on time.

Try to prepare and plan your routine in a systematic manner, and remain calm and collected.

Sometimes you can unwittingly project your own fear and anxiety onto your child.

Breathing Exercises can help your child and yourself calm the mind and body.

Deep, Slow, Belly breaths will help regulate the nervous system.

Breathe in for 4 hold for 4 and release for 4

You can ask the child to identify …
3 things they can see,
3 things they can hear,
and 3 ways they can move their body.

Writing things down will help your child feel safe to express their emotions and their thoughts about what's going on in their lives at school, at home with family, with their friends.

As a Mum of a SEN child I know first hand how anxiety can impact a family, as the School start date gets closer and closer the fears and worries increase.

I want to let you know that if you are struggling with your child/children you are not alone.

Grief Awareness Day -
August 30th 🩵

Grief Awareness Day is a reminder that grief touches every one of us at some point in life.

It is deeply personal, unique, and often misunderstood.

Grief comes in many forms:
the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a way of life, or even the version of ourselves we once knew.

It isn't a straight line, nor does it follow a timeline.

Instead, it ebbs and flows like the tide - some days calm, others stormy, always shifting.

Too often, we feel the pressure to "move on" or
"be strong."

But grief doesn't disappear simply because time passes.
It needs to be acknowledged, honoured, and supported.

On this day, we are reminded:
💙Grief has no rules.
💙Healing doesn't mean forgetting.
💙You don't have to carry it alone.

Life is a jar. 🫙
And every day, you decide what fills it.

The big rocks are the things that truly matter — your health, your relationships, your purpose, your growth.

The pebbles are the smaller goals, tasks, and commitments.

The sand is everything else — distractions, noise, the endless busywork.

If you start by pouring in the sand, there’s no room left for the rocks.

But if you place the rocks first, the rest always finds its space.

This is the Empty Jar Theory — a reminder that your time isn’t infinite.
