Fernhill residents recently enjoyed a fun minibus trip to sister home, The Aldbury Dementia Care Home 🎶🚌

Musician Nigel Revill played live, and everyone joined in singing and dancing to favourites like Bring Me Sunshine and Sweet Caroline. Afterwards, residents shared tea, cake, and a chat with The Aldbury residents.

Fernhill residents recently enjoyed a visit from Prana Traditional Thai, a community dance group who shared a selection of traditional Thai performances.

Several of the performers are colleagues from our sister home, The Aldbury Dementia Care Home, making the occasion especially meaningful.

Afterwards, residents spoke about how much they enjoyed the experience - we hope to welcome the dancers back again soon!

A therapeutic farm, High Mead offers individuals living with additional needs the opportunity to engage in an array of activities.

We can’t wait to spend the year raising funds, learning more about their work, and making a difference together with our residents, team, and community.

Winter Olympics fun is coming to Fernhill! 🏅❄️

Our residents recently had a fantastic time preparing for the big event, making flags, medals, torches, crowns, and an Olympic sign to cheer on the house teams. A joyful, creative afternoon that got us all excited for the Winter Olympics week ahead.

We celebrated an Elvis Presley's birthday here at Fernhill 🎶

Resident and fan Robert wowed everyone dressed as Elvis, singing along with Companion Ann Marie, while others joined in the sing-along and embraced the 1950s theme. A wonderful afternoon filled with music, fun, and smiles 🎸

What an incredible honour it has been over the past year to raise funds for such a worthy cause, Ferndown dementia friendly town 💚

Our team and residents were thrilled to hand over a cheque this week and hear more about how the money will help those in the community 🙌

What a wonderful way to spend the first full week of January – being invited along to Fernhill Dementia Care Home

We are incredibly grateful that the staff and residents at Fernhill chose FDFT as their Charity of the Year for 2025 💚 We were absolutely delighted to be presented with a cheque for an amazing £1,313.15 🙌
And of course, very much enjoyed being spoilt with bubbles and cake too! 🍾🎂

This generous fundraising will be put to great use supporting our Seed to Larder project, in partnership with Ferndown Community Support feat Ferndown Community Larder and bank and Ferndown & Parley Rotary.

Thanks to Fernhill’s support, we will be able to secure a fully accessible toilet at our allotment site from spring through to autumn again, ensuring the space remains Dementia Friendly. This means people living with dementia can continue to visit and enjoy our wonderful allotment throughout the year 🌱💚

A huge thank you to everyone at Fernhill Dementia Care Home – staff and residents alike – for your kindness, generosity, and support. We truly appreciate it.

Festive moments at Fernhill have included seasonal outings, live entertainment, and of course, our Christmas Fayre and Gala. All full of festive touches, good company, and special moments.

Residents visited St Aldhelm's, Branksome for the annual Christmas Tree Festival, enjoying the creative displays and spotting trees from our sister homes, Brook View Care Home and Canford Chase Care Home.

The evening finished with a minibus trip to see Christmas lights around Sandbanks, Ferndown, and Longham ✨🎄

Fernhill got into the full swing of the festive season recently, welcoming pantomime favourite Dame Daisy for an interactive Christmas performance 🎭🎄

Residents, families, and friends joined in with singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter.

The afternoon continued with homemade mince pies, mulled wine, and classic carols, creating a warm, joyful celebration for all. A wonderful to enjoy the season at Fernhill ✨

Residents enjoyed a magical minibus trip to Stewarts Garden Centres, taking in the twinkling lights, vibrant decorations, and imaginative festive displays.

A special highlight was visiting Father Christmas in his beautifully lit grotto, bringing smiles and Christmas cheer all around. The morning ended perfectly with coffee and cake in the café — a simple moment of warmth and connection to round off a truly uplifting outing.

We recently had a wonderful visit from Kim, the lovely Pets As Therapy Golden Labrador, and her owner, Francis.

Residents Kiki and Rosemary especially enjoyed spending time with her. Such a calm, gentle presence — we can’t wait for their next visit! 🐾

Our residents enjoyed a special Remembrance Day outing last week ❤️

We visited the Beacon Café in Ferndown, where the team welcomed us with warmth and even gifted us a cake to share. At 11 a.m., everyone joined together for the one-minute silence before taking a peaceful stroll around the church grounds. A gentle, meaningful morning that our residents truly appreciated.
