Our residents felt their green thumbs tingling and were eager to get hands-on with some beautiful flowers 💐

Although the sun wasn’t shining, it was still the perfect day to step outside and gather blooms from our garden. We carefully picked only the best so the garden would remain vibrant and full of life.

Then, we set about pairing flowers together to bring out their best. By the end of the session, we had created stunning bouquets, brimming with colour.

We were thrilled to welcome a very special guest to join our much-loved miniature Shetland Palomino pony, Sammy — his adorable new friend, Tiddles!

The sunny garden was the perfect setting for their visit, where residents, relatives, and staff gathered to meet the pint-sized pair.

Sammy, calm and friendly as ever, was a true star — happily soaking up the attention and strokes from everyone. Tiddles was equally adored, especially by Sandra, who couldn’t stop stroking her silky coat and showering her with kisses!

It was such a nice day, Companions Anne-Marie and Miezy suggested a catch-up in the garden.

First, we had a wander around the garden and some residents even watered the plants.

Once we were all sat down, we decided to try our hands at a spot of birdwatching and had a great time trying to identify our winged visitors.

We recently hosted our immensely popular ‘Pub Quiz at the Fernhill’ in honour of International Beer Day.

We transformed our Hazel Lounge into the heart of the Fernhill Pub, complete with a bar stocked full of cold beers and tasty snacks.

We had some real quiz experts among us! And adding to the atmosphere was the wonderful Robert, who serenaded us with Elvis’s classic “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.”

All in all, the Fernhill Pub Quiz was a triumph. Cheers to a day well spent! 🍻

Our chocolate-loving resident Kiki asked to visit the House of Dorchester. So, this week, we made her wish come true with a minibus trip to the British Master Chocolatier🍫🌟

Our residents loved learning about the history of the company and sampling some of the best sellers. Everyone had a good look around the shop and bought themselves something to take home. And before we left, we were presented with two complementary fine chocolate eggs perfected with decadent milk sea salt caramel and iconic pink Marc de Champagne Truffles.

Thank you to the staff for all their time and kindness towards us and for making Kiki’s chocolate wish come true. We are looking forward to returning at Christmas time!

This weekend, one of our residents, Kiki, had the chance to fulfil a lifelong wish — to walk in the Bourne Free Pride Festival 🏳️‍🌈

Kiki has spoken about joining a Pride event for more than 60 years, so with the support of Companion Miezy, she finally made it happen.

Wearing a colourful shirt she designed herself, Kiki spent the day soaking up the atmosphere, collecting flags and stickers, and chatting to new friends along the way 👋

“This is the best time of my life,” she said throughout the day.

To celebrate his 90th birthday, our lovely resident Ron took a trip down the tracks with a special visit to the Swanage Railway — fulfilling his wish 💙

Ron’s love of locomotives began as a baby (legend has it he was “baptised in steam” on a train platform!) and has lasted a lifetime — from building model trams to volunteering as a tram conductor and even writing books on steam heritage.

Joined by his family and fellow residents, Ron spent the day exploring vintage carriages, chatting with railway staff, and sharing stories and facts. Even though the steam engine couldn’t run that day, it didn’t dampen the fun — the diesel engine got us rolling, and Ron even met the driver before departure!

Thank you to our brilliant Companion Team and everyone at Swanage Railway for making this wish come true 🚂💫

Though choppy seas meant we couldn’t take our planned boat trip, we still enjoyed a scenic drive through Milford on Sea and Keyhaven, ending with a peaceful picnic at Lymington Marina.

Watching the boats and the Isle of Wight ferry brought back many fond memories 🌊🛥️
