📖✨ National Storytelling Week ✨📖

This week, during National Storytelling Week, we were delighted to be invited to Muddy Boots Nursery School Kinson to share some of the children’s favourite stories with them.

There were also plenty of stories shared both ways between the children and our residents from Ferndown Manor — the interactions were absolutely priceless. The nursery was filled with laughter, smiles, and a real sense of connection, which was truly wonderful to see.

A huge thank you to Muddy Boots Nursery for warmly welcoming our residents. We had such a lovely time reading stories, sharing moments, and getting to know the children. 💕

🌱 Benefits of intergenerational interaction include:
• Building meaningful connections across generations
• Boosting confidence and communication skills
• Creating joy, laughter, and lasting memories for all involved

Moments like these remind us how powerful simple shared experiences can be. We’re already looking forward to the next visit! 😊📚

We would like to wish Alan a very happy birthday love from all staff at Ferndown manor❤️

Day 2 -

Big Garden Birdwatch 🐦
This morning we got our chairs set up and the binoculars ready, then spent some lovely time counting all the birds that visited our garden. A peaceful way to start the day! 💚

This morning we enjoyed a lovely trip to the New Forest to see the horses, braving the rain along the way. We then stopped at Burley Golf Club, where Pat had been a member for years. She enjoyed reminiscing and was delighted to find her name on the Ladies Championship board twice!

We stopped there for tea and coffee before heading to The White Buck, where we enjoyed some chips and a pint.

It was wonderful to fulfil three wishes in one day: Trevor and Kathy wished to enjoy a pint at the pub, while Pat wanted to revisit her old golf club.

We truly had an amazing day and love continuing to fulfil wishes here at Ferndown Manor❤️

The weather has been a little dull over the past few days, so what better way to lift our spirits than a visit to the local garden centre 🌸

We loved admiring the beautiful display of spring flowers and couldn’t resist bringing home some primroses and snowdrops to brighten up our garden.

A relaxing afternoon followed, potting these delicate blooms while listening to calming classical music 🎶 — simply perfect

🎶 Huge thank you to the Swing Squad 🎶

A massive thank you to the Swing Squad for their debut performance here at Ferndown Manor. Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful variety of music and the incredible talent of such a young band.

Each band member delighted our residents by taking turns to perform solo pieces — from trumpet and drums to saxophone, topped off with a beautiful vocal and piano performance. 🎺🥁🎷🎹

The Swing Squad certainly have a very bright future ahead, and we wish them every success. ✨
We truly hope to welcome you all back again very soon! 💙

Today was full of fun, learning, and relaxation! 🌈⚽️

We enjoyed a variety of activities, starting with pairing the colours of the balls and exploring different textured balls to stimulate our senses. This afternoon, we took part in a tasting session, sampling a range of foods and using all our senses to explore new flavours and textures 👃👅

We finished the day with a relaxing pamper session, which was very well received and the perfect way to unwind 💆‍♀️✨
