Here's a link about bathing water quality from the UKHSA which links to swimfo a government site about bathing water cleanliness ... which ranks Reighton and Cayton beaches as better quality water than Filey. I'd note that Filey is still rated as Good water quality in general - and in my humble opinion is safer in terms of all the other factors impacting safety.

Overall, even tho' water quality at both Cayton and Reighton beaches is rated as Excellent - as a swim location - due to beach geology and currents and availability of assistance and rescuer access - Filey is much safer.

There is especially a problem with dangerous currents at Reighton due to beach geology - which can even imperil rescuers in boats. Cayton is a much more exposed bay where the sea state can be far more complex to understand. Swell, wave height, rocks, reef, and all the factors that make Cayton a great surfing location equally make Cayton a more challenging and complex swim location.

In summary, safety includes water quality, yet, other factors need to be taken into account.

Bucket on the beach? Leave it alone. If you take a cold-water-swimmers possessions you are risking their life. They will need to get warm fast after returning from their swim. You will be being watched too. And probably photographed from the sea.

Often people are acting in good faith. They think they're collecting lost property. Or worry that someone is missing or in distress. Take a good look at the sea near the bucket and you'll spot the swimmer swimming - and probably waving at you, to tell you, to put their stuff back down.

It's the time of year when, visitors, not familiar with the local's swimming habits mistakenly interfere.

To help them not to. It might be good to create a laminated flag for your bucket that says "Swimmer in the Sea" and "Please do not touch".

(A swimmer in distress might also be waving at you. So, do try to determine what's going on, but if you have their dry kit on you - it's likely frustration that you haven't left their possessions alone.)

Someone has fly tipped large-scale gardening waste up the coast ... including thick cut branches and tree trunks ... which also somehow includes kitchen units. This is now a hazard in our bay and on our beach. This debris hitting across your shin or chest as you play in the sea ... smarts and is painful. One cabinet door had sharp metal hinges.
