Hi Everyone!
I think it’s time for a much needed update!
After a successful year last year then struggling through the horrendous weather we suffered last winter, we made the decision to close through the winter and open only to existing clients when the weather cleared. We had a great summer filled with camps, shows and more, even making the exciting trip down to wales with a little team for the first time as a riding school!
Towards the end of summer one of our main ponies suffered an injury and whilst I’m happy to say she has made a full recovery, it meant she missed the remainder of the season and our lovely older boy Nova also retired at 21 years old after a very successful showjumping career followed by teaching so many of you at Filey Riding School!
I had planned to add a couple more horses/ponies to the riding school however since becoming pregnant in may I have sadly experienced some complications and have made the decision that at this time in my life adding more horses to the 27 that we currently have is not the best thing to do for myself or my baby, especially not coming into another long winter.
Therefore it is with great sadness that I announce the closure of Filey Riding School. I’m not sure that this will be forever however it will certainly be for the foreseeable future.
I will still be offering my training to those with their own horses and due to the popularity amongst my current students I am also going to be opening up another evening Equine Care and Key Skills course for all those wanting to learn and become confident in every aspect of owning, loaning and caring for horses! The course is open to everyone from complete beginners to more experienced equestrians looking to increase their knowledge.
Topics covered will also include those covered in BHS stage 1&2 exams, setting those looking for a career in horses up perfectly too!
Please note this is a Care and Knowledge course only and whilst we’ll be covering how to set up various exercises in the arena etc we will not be riding as by dropping the Riding School status our horses are no longer able to be used for riding purposes to external visitors!
If you are interested in this course please let me know, it will be running for 8 weeks!
Thank you all for all your support with Filey Riding School, it has been a time filled with so much pride as a coach watching you all grow your love and passion for the horses and excel week by week in your riding!
I’m excited to continue coaching moving forward and I hope very much that my son arrives safe and healthy in the new year and I’ll be coaching him in a few years too!💙

We are thrilled to finally be back open for the 2024 season despite the horrendous weather we’ve all been tackling!
We are currently full for lessons of any length and operating a wait list so if you would like to be added to this list please send us a message! If you have messaged previously you will already be on the wait list and will be contacted as soon as there is any availability!
Whilst we can’t offer lessons to new clients currently! We have limited availability for Hacking on selected days over the next few weeks for those with some previous riding experience! These sessions are tailored to suit each individual and range from £30 for a group hack or £40 for an individual, these hacks are at least 1 hour and sometimes run a little over depending on how far we head out.

Unfortunate Announcement

It’s with the deepest regret that I announce we will be dropping down to 3 teaching days a week (Mondays will be dropped) and we will not be taking on any new clients until the springtime.
All current weekly/ fortnightly clients will be accommodated as normal as much as we can.
This decision has been impossibly hard and comes from the business no longer being able to support having staff and therefore, I will be undertaking the whole yard for 29 horses myself throughout the winter, this means there is very little time left for teaching day to day.
We hope as the weather improves in spring that this issue will resolve as the good weather allows the horses to go back outside or if our situation improves before then we will eagerly get back to normal and taking on new clients etc again!

All current shows/camps/events etc will continue to go ahead.
I hope you all understand, this has not been an easy decision and we hope everything will return to normal again soon.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!
With the successful running of our first Autumn Camp we have decided to hold a Christmas/New year Camp too!
Filled with riding, hands on experience and lots of festive fun added in too!
Spaces are £180pp this includes all meals etc for the duration.
Spaces are limited and filled quick for our Autumn camp so be sure to book soon so you don’t miss out! ⛄️

Morning everyone!
The diary is filling up fast for bookings on our new 4 day week,
Spaces for short private sessions are available between 4&5 on a Monday and Wednesday, these sessions are 30mins and £20 for children under 10 and £25 for children 10 and above or adults. We only have a few of these spaces available now.

Due to personal opportunities for myself in my other business I’ve made the decision that I need to dedicate a couple of days a week to that business and better organise sessions for the riding school during the week!
Below are the new working hours for lessons throughout the week!
Please note I may be able to teach outside these hours on the selected days however I will not be able to teach on days marked as closed or Sundays unless otherwise informed.
I will be in touch with those who have lessons regularly booked on ”closed days” to rearrange for a day/time that suits you! I hope this will make booking easier and also give myself a little more time to put into both businesses.

We’re super excited to announce that after the great day we had at our first Fun Day, we now have a date for the next one!
This time we’ll also be doing more riding, a pony picnic for lunch and so much more!

Little Update from the last week!
Despite the awful weather we’ve been super busy and welcomed lots of new faces to the riding school too!
Our little show team ventured out to their first ever show away from home last week and had a lovely day managing to pick up some good placings too!
