I don't know about you but January felt so long and colourless with it's
grey skies, rainy days & everything feeling a bit muted.
For me it's not been an easy month & I've felt its toll on my own mental health.
And sometimes, even when we’re feeling low, we still show up smiling.
We keep going.
We mask it, because it feels easier than explaining or because we don’t want to be a burden.
But feeling a bit flat at this time of year doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re human.
Winter asks a lot of us.
So if you’re also quietly carrying that heaviness right now, please know you’re not alone.
You don’t have to be positive.
You don’t have to have it all together.
Rest, softness and honesty count as strength too.
Be kind to yourself this February. 💙

February is finally upon us.
January has been and gone and Good Riddance as it certainly threw a few curveballs in my direction.

So I'm still taking it easy into February. I need to help lower my cortisol levels and regulate my nervous system again.

And there are lots of energies around at the moment. We've just had Leo's Full moon 'The snow moon', and Imbolc plus we're still shedding The year of the snake in readiness for The year of the Horse galloping in for the Chinese New year on the 17th of February too.
So if like me you're not quite ready to go leaping ahead that's okay too. Just take it step by step, day by day and be kind to yourself... always 💕

The little greengrocers in Bondville belongs to Pete. He opened it in the 90’s not long after Bondville was built, he lives in the flat above and absolutely loves it.

Familiar faces. Friendly chats. It’s a place built on heart, not profit. He’s a small business owner who loves what they’ve built. Early mornings. Honest work. His loyal customers, he loves it all!
It was never about getting rich — just about earning a living doing something he cared deeply about.

But behind the scenes, the sums have become harder.
Rising bills. Rising costs. Business rates. Utilities. Wages.
Month after month of trying to make it work. He rarely makes minim wage. He put a slight uplift on his prices, but people complained and said they could buy cheaper online or at the supermarket, some even left negative comments on social media. He sourced everything locally, it was organic but he just couldn’t make it work. Everything felt different, he was exhausted and he was sad 😔

In the end, he has had to make the decision no one ever wants to make. He has no choice but to close.

The door closed. The lights went off.
A dream quietly packed away.

I don't know about you but I'm over January already. The dull cold weather, the greyness, the dark nights. It all feels rather flat and that includes the bank balance. Payday feels like a fantasy and those New year resolutions have already given up the ghost.

So for me, I'm hanging in there. Taking one day at a time, lowering all my expectations, wrapping myself up in blankets and soothing with warm drinks.
In the meantime, I'm noticing the little glimmers. It's slightly lighter on a morning and evening, there are spring bulbs peeking out of the ground. I'm enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. And I'm trying to see bits of joy in every day.

Please be careful out there today. Just had to walk to work because of a poorly car. The paths are terrible and I had crampons on walking boots.

New year tends to be the time when we make our resolutions & throw ourselves all in to make them work. And by the end of January we've fallen off track a little.
January feels like such a long month both financially and in the darkness of midwinter. I don't tend to celebrate the New year in the traditional sense. For me, the New year starts on the spring equinox in March. A time when nature has its new beginnings & starts to grow & bloom.
Our traditional New year is in the midst of winter when everything is nurturing itself underground & I too want to stay cosy & nurture myself. This doesn't mean I'm not doing anything. I take the time to plan & gently put my ideas down rather than bursting into action on the 1st of January.
So if you're making resolutions but your energy isn't quite ready. You don't have to start on the 1st. Ease yourself in slowly & be gentle with yourself.

I will wish you a Happy New Year & hope 2026 brings you everything your heart desires 🎉❤️
