Gut Feelings

Gut Feelings Gut Feelings Kombucha is a raw, naturally fermented tea flavoured with high quality fruit & herbs.

Gut Feelings Kombucha is an effervescent fermented tea made with a passion for good quality ingredients. Kombucha has detoxification and probiotic qualities, making it a great addition to a healthy diet as it contributes towards gut health. Carefully selected fruit and herbs are introduced for an enhanced nutritional profile in each flavour. Gut Feelings runs on a low waste business model, achieved by setting up Refill Stations where bottles can be refilled as and when needed. A small bottle range is also on offer through which new and seasonal flavours can be experienced.

Live Kombucha Vinegar.

Have you tried it? You can buy it from , , , and

What do you do with it?
I personally like to have it in my morning electrolyte drink, as a salad dressing or as a vinegar brine for cold pickling. It is deeeelish. Think similar to your live apple cider vinegar but with a different profile of microbes.

I enjoy mixing it up a bit, some mornings I will have apple cider vinegar and other mornings Kombucha vinegar. Doing this means my body is getting access to the different acids and microbes, all of which provide varying benefits. Maintaining variety, even just by choosing a different source of vinegar, is a great way to encourage diversity within the microbiome.

Kombucha is everywhere now, but why drink it?

Here we are in 2026, where your options for Kombucha seem almost endless. Glass bottles in the fridge, cans on warm shelves and even kombucha teabags. I reminisce back to 2019 when Gut Feelings was born and nae'body had a clue what the word 'Kombucha' meant.

But do people really know now? I'm not so sure as the word Kombucha is plastered all over cheap products that, from what I know the word to mean, make no sense at all!

Gut Feelings Kombucha is a live & naturally fermented tea drink. Our Kombucha has been tested in a lab in Edinburgh, showing it is very much alive! It comes with a wee tickle of fizz, some months more than others. We use real herbs and fruit, nae extracts or artificial what-nots to be seen.

Because of the way we brew and the real ingredients that we use, drinking our Kombucha gives you access to; live microbes, acids that are supportive for digestion AND the nutrients & fibres found in the ingredients used.

A wee heeds up. This description above cannot be photocopied to everything that says Kombucha on it.

A drink that is sat on a warm shelf is not alive, otherwise it would have exploded! If you are drinking for gut health purposes, always chose the ones that only ever live in the fridge.

A drink that has artificial sweeteners or flavourings in it IS NOT GOOD for your gut. Our gut microbes despise artificial. If anything, you are doing your gut harm by consuming these drinks.

Be careful out there folks. Your gut microbes may be all powerful and strong but they are also very sensitive!

Sugar is the root of ill health.

A common understanding that I do not disagree with, but...

You will see that our Kombucha contains sugar and yes we use sugar in the process of making our gut health brew. However! This sugar is nae for you, or me, it is for the microbes.

Turns out that Kombucha microbes don't succumb to the same health issues that we do when we eat loads of sugar. Raw cane sugar is their energy source and a vital component in them being able to produce the benefits that we get from Kombucha.

As they feed, they transform the sugar into molecules of acid which creates a beneficial environment in which they can reproduce. At Gut Feelings we give them 5 weeks for this process. A nice slow time for these microbes to feast and multiply, chomping up a large amount of the sugar that we add.

In the end, some sugar does remain in the drink. But this sugar is to sustain the lives of the microbes that are still living within those wee bottles.

You can now find heaps of 'sugar free' Kombucha which I do not trust AT ALL. In order for traditional Kombucha to be made, sugar is needed. Powdered microbes poured into a sweetened and slightly vinegary mixture may be sugar free but it certainly is not a Kombucha that I would be investing in for health.

Consistency is KEY!

A fact that I know very well both from a business and consumer perspective. Equally, a thing that I was very much failing at with The Fermented Food Hub last year...

Over the Winter break I have tried to formulate a plan that allows me to keep exploring other avenues of fermentation without confusing people by being open and not open completely inconsistently.

The reality is, the schedule of my life is very inconsistent and flexibility has always been an important quality of Gut Feelings, as two of our team have wee ones and having too rigid a working structure is just not realistic.

Currently, the wholesale route and home delivery system works very well for us. I am just a couple of weeks away from releasing a new fermented drink to a local shop and this will soon(ish) be followed by our wee range of fermented veggies.

All will be done on a VERY small scale! At least to start with. If you are interested in home delivery of; Kombucha, Kefir and/or Fermented Veggies, please drop me an email. I have some very very happy - and consistent - customers who get a fermented goodie box right to their door every 2 weeks!

The algorithm loves my face. Yours too!

My face and more in-depth details of the way I live my life have been plastered all over my Gut Feelings page, last year in particular. Why have I done this? A few reasons...

• There is a certain feeling of 'connection' that I get when interaction comes from what I post.
• Utilising social media as an 'educational platform' both for fermenty things and land stuff seemed like a good idea.
• I got swept up in the 'normality' of sharing so much detail.
• And, let's not lie, when my face is in it I get more likes and inevitably feed off of a wee dopamine hit.

I have been contemplating it lots and have decided to step back more from using social media. There are plenty of platforms doing a wonderful job of educating & inspiring through sharing their process with fermentation and developing plots of land.

My 'why' for sharing quite so much is no longer clear or strong. Interrupting the flow of days just to take a selfie or a video doesn't line up and I realise it is not good for my mind in the long run to be quite so personally present online. Considering our sales are predominantly in the local area and I want to keep my business wee, I'm just not sure how vital likes and online popularity really are.

I can only hope that those of you who support my business will keep doing so even as our online presence dims. Updates will come, new products celebrated and certainly some educational nuggets - just at a much lower quantity going forward.

Thanks for reading yet another of my essays and for your continued support!

Happy New Year!

As always, I will be taking this month (at least) away from social media to allow my brain to recalibrate into the new year and to get clear on my hopes for the year to come.

2025 was incredibly full, both personally and for the business too. Lots of new ventures and ideas - slightly too many, that's for sure. A re-think is in order as I recognise I am juggling a few too many things and need to get clear on how to balance my intentions with reality in order to provide and produce things of good quality from a space of enjoyment too.

What I can say for sure is that Gut Feelings will be offering a wider variety of fermented goods in the year to come. I have products veryyyy almost ready to go, with the aim of being fully released by early Spring at the latest.

But for now, wishing you & your microbes a comfortable start to 2026. Be sure to keep topped up on Kombucha over these next few months! I'm aware it's cold, but our immune systems need as much support as possible over this time.

See you back online in some weeks time.

Fermented Food Hub, update...

The food hub was always going to be a bit experimental to figure out what the space was meant for. Unfortunately, serving food from this space is not working out currently for a few different reasons.

However, I have a real strong drive for the fermented vegetables and the aim is to begin selling them further afield in 2026. We do also have a new product in the making, aiming for a January release.

The character of this space may change with time as I begin growing my own vegetables but as it stands the food offerings are not working out time/popularity wise. Thank you to everyone who has supported it so far.

I love it when the sheep come back to being my neighbours!

I am incredibly lucky to be managing a plot of land at . A place where there is the deepest of respect for land and with many great farming/growing practices as a stable part of its core.

I had lived on the outskirts for 3 years, developing a stronger draw to the land at Marcassie throughout that time. After approaching Sven & Betsy with my dream of self sufficiency and continual hopes of preservation, I have been lucky enough to be granted this opportunity.

To spend time on a plot of land that I feel so connected to and to take time to learn ways to build a life in which the land can sustain me whilst I help to nourish it. Words cannot describe how grateful I am.

I do not, and would not want to, do this alone!

In recent times there has been a whole lot of me, land and piggies on the Gut Feelings page which may make it seem like I do this alone. But I do not! And would not want to!

Olivia has been on board since 2021 and Sula since last year, and an extra 2 pairs of very very wee 'helping hands' within the crew too. We are all so within our individual rhythm within the business that it can be hard to capture moments to share.

It feels like Gut Feelings is a place that we all pop into for some time, but never too much time. It allows all of us to have other plates spinning and life happenings going on at the same time. A job that probably could be done by one person, shared between 3 so that we all have a better life balance and the microbes get treated to a variety of loving hands.

I cannot contemplate going back to the days where I did it all alone. A very fast track way to disliking a job that, within this rhythm, I totally adore.

Thank you both, SO much, for everything you do at Gut Feelings x

Winter.

This is the closest relationship I have ever had with a plot of land and it feels like the first time I am truly appreciating how far us humans have split from how the rest of nature experiences Winter.

The pigs wake only just as it gets light - sometimes later if I don't stir them - and go to bed when it gets dark. Even in the light, they sleep most of the day. There is no noticeable growth in any of the plants on the plot. The trees have lost their leaves and are taking a very apparent rest.

Winter is not a time for growth. It is a time for rest and recalibration. The rest of nature displays that very obviously. Meanwhile the rhythm of people remains the same, year round.

This year is the first time that I have been able to really recognise that my body is desperately trying to tell me to make the daily to do lists MUCH shorter and just rest! A challenging wee message to really listen to when it simply is not the norm.

How different we are to the rest of nature. Such high expectations in such an intentionally sleepy season.
