Today is World Spay Day.

Spaying does more than prevent unwanted litters, it protects against mammary cancer and completely prevents life-threatening uterine infections (pyometra).

Early prevention is safer, simpler, and kinder than emergency surgery later.

If you’ve been thinking about booking, now’s the time.

It’s National Dog Biscuit Day 🦴🐶

We love seeing those happy tail wags when the treat jar opens… but here’s your friendly vet reminder 👇

Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s daily calories.

Too many biscuits (even the “healthy” ones!) can quietly lead to weight gain, dental issues, and tummy upsets.

✔️ Check ingredient lists
✔️ Avoid xylitol (toxic to dogs)
✔️ Break large treats into smaller pieces
✔️ Adjust their main meals if you’re training with rewards

Because the best treat is a long, healthy life 💙

Love Your Pet Day 🐾❤️

Today is all about celebrating the animals who make our lives better every single day.

Whether they greet you like a hero, steal your spot on the sofa, chirp for attention, or quietly sit by your side — life just wouldn’t be the same without them.

The best way to show your love?
💚 A little extra playtime
💚 A healthy treat
💚 A comfy nap spot
💚 And keeping up with their health checks

Drop a photo of your pet in the comments and tell us one thing you love most about them 👇

🐾 Justice for Animals Week 💚

This week is about standing up for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Every animal deserves:
✔️ Safety
✔️ Proper care
✔️ Freedom from pain and neglect
✔️ A life filled with compassion

As a veterinary team, we see every day how powerful responsible ownership and early intervention can be. From routine health checks to reporting concerns and supporting rescue organisations, small actions make a big difference.

If you’re ever worried about an animal’s welfare, don’t ignore it. Ask for advice. Speak up. Reach out.

As we welcome the Year of the Horse, it’s the perfect time to focus on strength, balance and wellbeing values that matter just as much to our horses as they do to us.

Regular health checks, good nutrition, dental care and assessments all play a key role in keeping horses comfortable and performing at their best all year round.

Here’s to a happy, healthy year ahead for our equine friends

Friday 13th Myth Buster 🐱

Black cats aren’t unlucky, they’re loving, loyal, and just as wonderful as any other cat.

Sadly, myths and superstitions mean black cats are often overlooked, but in reality they make fantastic companions.

Today’s a great day to show some extra love to the black cats in your life 🐾

Cats aren’t always obvious when something’s wrong, which is why love looks a little different for them 💕

As we head into Valentine’s week, here are 3 simple ways to show your cat some extra love today:
🐱 Check their teeth and gums, bad breath isn’t just ‘a cat thing’
🐱 Notice changes in eating, hiding, or litter habits
🐱 Give them a gentle head to tail feel for any new lumps or sore spots

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts, early checks make all the difference.

5 quick things to check on your pet this weekend 🐶

• Eyes: Should be bright and clear, with no redness or discharge
• Ears: Look for redness, bad odour, or excessive scratching
• Teeth and gums: Bad breath, tartar build up, or red gums can indicate dental disease
• Skin and coat: Check for lumps, scabs, hair loss, or signs of itching
• Energy and appetite: Changes in eating, drinking, or behaviour can be early warning signs

Regular at home checks help catch problems early. If you notice anything unusual, our team is here to help.
