Staying Safe and Happy in the Rain 🐶🐱
Rainy days don’t have to mean miserable days for our pets! With a little extra care, they can stay safe, healthy, and comfortable.
Top tips for wet weather:
🐾 Dry them off properly
After walks, dry paws, bellies, and ears thoroughly to help prevent skin irritation, infections, and that “wet dog” smell.
🐾 Watch out for muddy paws
Mud can hide sharp objects or irritate paw pads. A quick rinse can prevent discomfort and licking later on.
🐾 Keep them warm
Smaller, older, or short-haired pets can feel the cold more. Consider a pet coat for walks and cosy bedding at home.
🐾 Be visible
Rain reduces visibility. Reflective collars, leads, or coats help keep pets safe near roads.
🐾 Check for parasites
Damp conditions are ideal for fleas and ticks. Make sure preventative treatments are up to date. Check out our Premier Pet Care plan 🐶
🐾 Mind the paws indoors
Wet floors can be slippery for pets too especially seniors. Towels by the door can help avoid slips.
🐾 Mental stimulation matters
If walks are shorter, try indoor games, puzzle feeders, or training exercises to keep pets mentally engaged.
Prolonged dampness can lead to skin infections, ear problems, and joint stiffness especially in older pets. Regular checks after wet walks can catch issues early.
