My Yoga journey so far...
I first came across yoga in 2008 when travelling for a year in India (see above picture of me in the high Himalaya) and I have not stopped practicing since. I had no idea what to expect from my first class but I certainly didn't expect to be told I had the body of a 90 year old man! Through regular practice I realised just how much physical (and thereby emotional and mental) tension I was holding in my body and the yoga postures seemed to do wonders with releasing this. I also got in connection with the amazing power of proper yogic breathing and immediately quit my cigarette habit...I was hooked! I continued to practice throughout my year in India with different teachers and on my return home yoga helped me enormously with managing the stress of the big transition.
In 2014, after 6 years of regular practice, I did my 200 hour Teacher Training certificate in the Himalayan mountains with the amazing Trimurti Yoga School and, upon moving to Bristol, I began to set up classes. I now have 5 years of experience and have taught thousands of students. I love teaching yoga and it gives me great happiness to help share this practice with others.
I teach a variety of styles including vinyasa flow, hatha flow, hatha and meditation; I often although not always use music to enhance the experience for the students. I am very focused on proper alignment, but also want my students to really feel into their bodies and move in a dynamic, fun and creative way. I try to bring humour to the classes and help everyone not to take it too seriously and leave feeling happy and peaceful. My classes are available to all levels and I offer many options for all students. Come and try!
