Day 2 of our New Forest holiday was all about nature…

• Teaching Lennie which trees the leaves and seeds he found on the floor belonged to - oak, beech, sycamore, and pine.

• A picnic by the river at Wootton Bridge in the heart of the forest, Lennie loving feeding the chaffinches and paddling in the river as the New Forest ponies came to join us for their afternoon drink.

• Marvelling at the giant sequoias on a walk at Rhinefield Ornamental Drive.

Perfectly balanced. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It’s funny isn’t it how in our modern world we find it so hard to fit movement into our days, or to be motivated to move and enjoy it.

Being able to move our bodies isn’t just a joy, it’s a privilege. There are many people who don’t get to use the most fantastic tool the universe has ever known to its fullest capabilities. And I know it makes me grateful every day for the fact that I can move the way I want to.

It also makes watching our little ones grow and learn to move in so many different ways an absolute joy. Izzie is crawling about like a mad thing and doing the most amazing bear crawl walks on all fours. She loves grabbing your hands and going for a walk and she’s strong as an ox!

Lennie’s climbing and jumping skills improve every time I watch him and he needs our help less and less. He’s so confident in his now movement now.

On the first day of our New Forest holiday yesterday, we headed to the most amazing Moors Valley Country Park. What a place! So much space, so beautifully done, and so many incredible play parks for kids!! Lennie and Izzie had hours of fun. If you’ve never been, give it a visit. ❤️❤️❤️

This is us hiding from the rain in a wooden bus in a children’s play area in Bath.

The start of our holiday week hasn’t gone quite to plan. We cancelled our camping trip to North Devon because - after weeks of hot weather - the forecast changed something awful at the last minute.

Instead, yesterday we headed to Bath for what we thought was going to be a sunny day out in the awesome play area in Victoria Park. Then the heavens opened and we took shelter inside the number 52 to Corston, soggy picnic and all! 🤣

That said, it’s already been a great few days. Lou’s hot air balloon flight, then I got some time on Sunday to go for a run, lift some weights, and cycle up a mountain!

Bath turned out to be great fun! Lennie liked picking the first of the (extremely early) blackberries. We wandered into town for mooching, toy shopping, tea and cake.

And then today we had so much fun at soft play!!! Izzie’s first time and she loved it, whilst Lennie’s now charging around and climbing up and sliding down everything!

Things won’t always go to plan. I always say that to clients right from the start. But it’s how you adapt that counts and how you make the most from each and every opportunity for joy.

We’re now off to the New Forest tomorrow for a few days of (hopefully sunny) camping.🏕️ But if it rains, we’ll get a free shower and go splashing in some puddles!

Not quite round the world in 80 days, but 60 minutes across the Somerset levels at sunrise was pretty spectacular 😎👌

Another adventure ticked off the list for me and Mum 🤩

Can highly recommend First Flight if it’s on your list of things to do. Fantastic team, and champagne at 8:30am in a random farmers field was a pretty good end to an amazing morning 😍

Persistence pays off.

A really tough training run tonight - 10 minutes at (target) 5k pace, followed by 4 x 400-metre intervals at 6-minute mile pace, then another 10 minutes at 5k pace.

I was clinging on by the end but it was fun and my watch says I’m fitter than I’ve been since 1BC (Before Covid), basically 2019!

The numbers and fancy words might not make any sense to you and that’s ok. The principles are true though:

1. Find a way of moving that you love.
2. Stick to it. Be consistent and patient.
3. Balance the harder days with easier ones and rest where needed. Listen to your body.

Do these three and you’ll be well on your way to balance.

Monday mindset time…

Challenges.

Do you like to challenge yourself? Maybe compete against what you’ve done before or even against others?

It’s a surefire way to boost motivation if you get it right and find the type of challenge that makes you tick.

It’s Tour de France time again and I always set myself a cycling challenge when it starts. This year’s is to cycle up Mont Ventoux again (virtually). I’ve ridden it a number of times in real life and on the Wattbike but that doesn’t make it any easier.

I began training today, starting with a steep 6km mountain. I’ll pick a slightly longer one (always French, of course) each time over the next few weeks until I know I’m ready for the 21km of leg-burning fun Ventoux brings! 🚵🏻🚵🏻🚵🏻🚵🏻🚵🏻

Are you taking on any fitness or healthy lifestyle challenges right now? Or is there something you’d love to try?

Just Wimbledon, the Lions tour, England and Wales in the Women’s Euro’s, the start of the Tour de France, England vs India in the cricket, Henley Regatta, and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend!!! I’m bound to have missed a few too.

Not much to choose from!! 🤣🤣🤣

Our Story

Balance is all about helping you get fit, healthy, happy and stay that way. Ultimately, our aim is to help you find a better balance in your physical and mental wellbeing.

We use our ‘think, eat, live, move’ pillars for a truly holistic approach to get you there: think - discover tools to help you develop a mindset for success. eat - learn the key behaviours that underpin a balanced diet; the things you should do more often and those you should do a little less. live - find out how to improve your sleep, reduce stress, and get the perfect life balance move - follow our balanced approach for all-round health and fitness

We embed all of the pillars into everything we do; books, online challenges and our events - balanced days out and weekends walking, cycling or running. We look forward to helping you find your balance.
