Well, we did it!

A small but select team from Hartwood Health completed the Twilight Challenge at Blackbushe Airport and raised £270 for Sasha's Project.

There were only a few bumps and scrapes along the way, and we were impressed at some other participants who hula-hooped their way around!

Some of the team from Hartwood Health are taking part in the Twilight Runway Challenge 10k walk this Saturday 20th September to raise money for a local charity, Sasha's Project.
Sasha’s Project is a charity which runs a drop-in centre in Fleet. It is a safe place for young people in and around Fleet, Hampshire, who are struggling with anxiety, depression, their mental health or who are having thoughts of su***de.
It is open from 9pm to 6am every Friday and Saturday night for all young people age 13 to 25yrs. They are able to offer young people the opportunity to be heard in complete confidence, in a caring, non-clinical, safe environment. It is somewhere that young people can be supported through a crisis, with the aim of reducing their risk of self-harm and su***de.

✨ Back to School & Back to Work ✨

After the summer holidays, many of us spend more time sitting – whether it’s at a desk, in class, or working from home. Good posture can make a huge difference to comfort, focus, and long-term health.

Here are some simple sitting posture tips (great for both kids and adults 👇):

✅ Sit tall, not slouched – imagine a string gently lifting the top of your head and your chest rising toward the sky.
✅ Feet flat on the floor – avoid dangling legs or sitting on your feet.
✅ Sit back in your chair – let the backrest support you.
✅ Knees at 90° – level with, or just below, your hips.
✅ Relax your shoulders – keep them soft, not hunched toward your ears.
✅ Screen or book at eye level – no more bending your neck down for long periods.

✨ Little adjustments can make a big difference in preventing aches and improving energy.

Back to School!

The right school bag can make a huge difference to your child’s comfort, posture, and health. Here are some tips when choosing:
✅ Two wide, padded shoulder straps – Spreads the weight evenly and reduces strain.
✅ Adjustable straps – Keep the bag snug to the back, not hanging low.
✅ Lightweight when empty – The bag itself shouldn’t add unnecessary weight.
✅ Plenty of compartments – Helps balance items so weight isn’t all on one side.
✅ Reflective strips – Increases visibility, especially during darker mornings and evenings.
✅ Size matters – The bag should be no wider than your child’s shoulders and sit comfortably against their back.
⚠️ Top tip: A full school bag should weigh no more than 10–15% of your child’s body weight.
👉 But what if your child really wants a shoulder bag or handbag?
While rucksacks are best for posture and comfort, if your child prefers a single-strap style:
✨ Encourage them to swap shoulders often so one side isn’t carrying all the weight.
✨ Remind them to carry only the essentials – heavier items should ideally go in a backpack.
✨ Choose a bag with a wide, padded strap for comfort.
✨ Adjust the strap so the bag sits close to the body, not swinging at the hip.
That way, your child can enjoy their style while still protecting their back and shoulders. 💙
