🔹 Injured and unsure how to recover? 🔹

Brian came to me with an ankle injury that was holding him back. Through a detailed assessment—including range of motion tests, strength checks, and a movement analysis—we pinpointed the issue and built a targeted rehab plan.

With a combination of strength work, trigger point release, and self-mobilisation exercises, he’s now pain-free and back on his feet after just two sessions!

✨ If you’re dealing with an injury, don’t just wait for it to get better—let’s create a plan to get you moving again.

🔹 Training hard but feeling tight or restricted? 🔹

Gemma is a dedicated gym goer and horse rider who knows the importance of mobility, recovery, and injury prevention. By incorporating monthly sports massage sessions alongside her regular mobility work, she stays ahead of potential issues and keeps performing at her best.

In our sessions, we focus on releasing tension in her hamstrings and glutes, addressing any new concerns, and tweaking her mobility and strength plan as needed. The result? More movement freedom, better recovery, and long-term resilience.

✨ Whether you’re lifting, riding, or training hard—regular check-ins help you stay strong and injury-free.

🔹 Struggling with pain and unsure where to start? 🔹

Paul came to me with ongoing pain that was affecting his running. In our first session, we took the time to understand his history, training routine, and past injuries before diving into a full movement assessment.

By assessing range of motion, strength, and joint stability, we pinpointed key areas to work on, giving him a clear plan and renewed confidence in his ankle.

✨ Pain doesn’t have to hold you back! If you’re dealing with discomfort that’s limiting your training, let’s get to the root of the problem and find a solution that works for you.

📩 DM me to book a session and start moving pain-free again!

Farnham Pilgrim Half Marathon - Race Report

Date: Sunday, September 8, 2024

Justin and I took on the Farnham Pilgrim Half Marathon, a race that holds deep significance for both of us. This event was especially poignant as we remembered our Mum, who unknowingly ran her last race here in 2013. As we reflected on the ten years since her passing, we knew this run would be more than just a physical challenge; it was a tribute to her memory and a step in our ongoing journey to raise funds for the MND Association.

Given that I am still recovering from knee surgery and Justin hadn’t quite managed to get enough training in, we anticipated this would be a tough race. The route didn’t disappoint—it was a muddy, sandy, and hilly trail that tested us at every turn. But the physical challenges were balanced by silly jokes and support for each other.

Justin, ever the optimist, kept our spirits high throughout the race. He made a point of chatting with other runners, thanking the marshals, and even dishing out some classic “dad jokes” along the way. His energy was infectious and helped us push through some of the tougher sections. As we neared the end, our pace slowed, and the conversation quieted, but the sense of accomplishment was stronger than ever.

A special shout-out goes to our fantastic support crew, Jackie and little Henry. They managed to catch us a couple of times during the race, offering us jelly babies and high fives that gave us the boost we needed.

After crossing the finish line, we gathered with friends and family for a toast and a few well-deserved beers. It was a perfect way to lift our spirits and celebrate not just the race, but the memory of our Mum.

As we continue our journey of completing 10 events in honor of the 10 years since her passing, we are reminded of the importance of the work being done by the MND Association. We would be incredibly grateful for any donations, no matter how small, to support their efforts in researching treatments and finding a cure for the disease that took our Mum from us.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to our page—your generosity truly makes a difference to those affected by MND.

With gratitude,

Justin and Lyndsey

The last stretch was tough, but knowing I was so close, I pushed hard. Running those final kilometres, soaking in the crowds and the energy, I felt a mix of emotions. Crossing that finish line, I was overwhelmed with joy, even if I missed my target by a minute.

Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey! Whether it’s my last Comrades or not, this race will always hold a special place in my heart.

Ps. Thanks for supporting mine and Justin’s charity page for - we’ve raised over £6k for them!

Comrades UP run - Part 2
Race day kicked off with a long shuttle queue (hello Uber!) and a massive portaloo line—(no thanks), so I just got into my pen and waited for start! Met some amazing people, and when the national anthem played, I teared up…. And then all the feels for Shozoloza and Chariots of Fire. 🔥

Despite bottlenecks and a desperate mall bathroom stop, the vibes along the route were unreal. The support, the atmosphere, the camaraderie—I loved every damn kilometre! Even with some hiccups (right quad, left sock issues), I powered through, sticking to my pace band plan. (Average pace of 7’22” per km) to hit 10:40:00

🎉🏃‍♀️ 9/6/24: Comrades Up Run🏃‍♂️🎉.

Comrades, part 2! The “Up Run” to bag that coveted back-to-back medal: 85.9km from Durban to Pietermaritzburg (Why not just round it up, right? 😂).

After my 11:15:59 “Down Run” debacle—thanks to a watch mishap, start chaos, bottlenecks, and toilet queues—I was eager to fix things and snag that bronze medal (sub-11hr). So, I went back to and signed up for their bronze medal programme. Their ability-specific plans are fantastic! Checked the requirements, and with my marathon time from the past year my ability matched my goal, so I was ready to go. Four runs a week, two strength sessions, and just focusing on turning those days green (complete) every week! 🟩

Big shoutout to Coach Parry and team for adjusting my plan and prepping me for the elevation challenges. Kelvin, my elevation guru and part-time mountain goat, thanks for those Caesar camp hill runs, long runs and pacing me through the Farnborough Half, Bramley 32.6k race, and even sneaking in some coaching at the Good Friday 50km race (which I won, even if it was 1st of 2 😂😆).

🌟 10 Events for 10 Years 🌟

In memory of my incredible Mum, Kate Harwood, who passed away from MND 10 years ago, my family and I are taking on 10 events to raise money and awareness for the MND Association. 💪💙

One of these events is the Comrades Marathon, the oldest and largest road ultra marathon in the world, spanning 85.9km from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. I am honored to follow in the footsteps of both my Mum and Dad, who completed this race together in 1985. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

This cause is very close to our hearts, and every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. Please consider supporting us by donating through the link in my bio, which takes you to a tribute page for my Mum. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against MND. 🙏❤️

Just when you thought you’d heard enough about Comrades… 🤣

Well this is it. Ziyasha! Last one of comrades 2023!

This race was even tougher than I thought it would be. When Kelvin noted that the steep hill I was running up on the South Downs was nothing like the hills on the comrades route, I genuinely thought that maybe his memory was failing him. (I’ll share a Penny farthing story about him later). Any way. The Friday before race day I joined legend Bruce Fordyce and other novices on a bus tour of the route. Wow. Wow. Wow. The bud was struggling up hills in 1st gear. This route is ridiculous. Quad crushing climbs which go on, and on… and knee breaking descents plummeting to sea level. I wasn’t afraid though. I was just happy that I had zero expectations of the route letting up on us at any point. If I’d gone into that face “blind” I know I would have had a mental battle pretending that things would get better when they absolutely DO NOT!

Race day didn’t go to plan. Late to the start, confusion about my bag drop, queues for the loo, not getting into my pen on time and a watch that was telling me I was smashing it, when I wasn’t! How ever- at no point did I panic. I was blissfully unaware and enjoying every km. I had the most amazing support crew in Sim- who kept all my lovely support groups up to speed. And 10000 texts of supports from sooo many people 💕!

Thanks so much for following me, tracking me, willing me to go faster!

It’s been amazing!

Race week is here! 👣🏃‍♂️☮️🇿🇦❤️

I’ve thought about doing this race for I don’t know how many years. Always been on the bucket list of things to do. I’m so close now that I can’t actually fathom it! I probably won’t believe it until I’m stood on the start line waiting for the legendary build up:

Shosholoza, Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika , Chariots of fire, the c**k crow followed by the gun to signal the start!

My training started with the end of hockey season 2022. I downloaded a marathon programme off the internet and relied on my 2009 marathon ability to get me over the line. What resulted was the most horrific race. I went out too fast, too soon, galloping down hill. I came unstuck at the half way mark. 21km in and I was a broken mess. I toughed out the rest of the race walk/ running in pain that didn’t diminish. 5 hours 50min. I’d been running so long I’d skipped two meals.

I realised my training was less than adequate and I needed help. I signed up to coach parry’s comrades finishers program and was astounded by the results. Running to time meant I wasn’t constantly “racing/ checking my watch” and ran to how I felt. If it was a bad day, I may have run slower but I still achieved my time goal. Coupled with Coach Bennett’s guided runs on Nike Run Club- I started to feel lighter on my feet and enjoy things a bit more. (Coach Bennett/ Nike Run Club guided runs make runs fly by… give you tips, make you laugh, and help you be a better runner).

I qualified for comrades in December in a time of 4:48 (after a 5km sprint to the end)! I’d done it! But I needed to improve on that. Running 4 times a week with two strength sessions a week meant that I was getting more robust, faster and fitter. The aim of the coach parry programme was to load the body in such a way that you can arrive at the comrades start line uninjured and ready to tackle the 87.7km of this years downhill race.

I’ve done my taper, and whilst I relax it’s hard not to panic that I’m not fit enough. This reel reminds me what I’ve done since December… 3 marathons, 2 ultramarathons, and just under 1000km of running since 1st Jan. Monthly massage treatments, weekly strength sessions, as well as regular mobility. Everything hopefully coming together on Sunday to help push me past my furthest ever run… 50km!

I’d love it for you to track me on race day and send some love and support if you’re awake! The start is 4:30am UK time 🕰️😴) But it’s an emotive build up if you’re able to watch the live stream.

If you’re keen to track me:

download the comrades app and enter my name (easy).

Massive thank you to everyone who has supported me over the very many months of this! My colleagues for listening to my very interesting stories, family and friends for letting me disappear for hours running, and for putting up with 80% less of my personality since cutting back on the weekend beers 🍻🤣.

Finally- I’m overwhelmed with how much money we’ve raised!! Thank you!!! There’s still time to donate if you wish (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mndcomradesmarathon).

After this “run to the sea”, together with The Club we are hosting a 24hr PT fundraising event from 10am Friday, May 19, 2023 through to 10am Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Nicknamed the ‘MND Muscle Marathon’ the various friendly coaches at The Club will be hosting a four-hour session each where all are welcome to attend whether you are a member or not and involves simply booking your hour session and donating what you wish to the chosen charity, MND Association. You are able to book on for as many fun personal training sessions as you think you can manage!

The MND Muscle Marathon at The Club is part of a bigger fundraising effort from Lyndsey who has been training for the Ultimate Human Race, the Comrades Marathon in South Africa. The Comrades Marathon is the largest and oldest race in the world and a gruelling 90km race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban that must be run all at once and in under 12 hours. Lyndsey, who originates from Johannesburg in South Africa, is running the race in honour of both her Mum and Dad that have both run this epic running challenge and hopes to emulate their success in running it in under 11 hours when she heads to the starting line on June 11, 2023.

If you would like to book a session you can do so here. And if you would simply like to show your support by donating to this amazing cause then you can do so here.

We were devastated when Mum suddenly started struggling with small tasks, such as opening a door, walking, sitting up. After a few months of tests, and ever rapidly decreasing strength, she was finally diagnosed with motor neurone disease in Jan 2014. Shortly after, we were struggling to care for her at home and she moved into Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in March. She was thoroughly spoilt and cared for by everyone at the hospice supported by the MND association. We had another 4 months of fun and adventure before she sadly passed away. Our Mum was vivacious, bubbly, funny, loving, supportive, caring, beautiful and the Best Mum ever.

Her tenacity in dealing with such a diagnosis and putting her kids first was a testament to her strength. Talking of strength.. back in 1984, she completed the Comrades Marathon alongside our Dad (Grenville), who we lost in 2003, in a time of 10:41:15 and 10:44:20 respectively. (Amazing times by the way)!! Growing up in South Africa, this race is awe inspiring. It's a gruelling 90km race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban up and down a very lumpy route (lumpy, being very very hilly)!

I hope to emulate their amazing achievements in June this year by completing the Comrades marathon. Leading up to this event I'll be competing in:

1. the Amersham Ultra (50km) race in March

2. Brighton Marathon (April)

3. Race to the sea (50km) race in May

4. Hosting the MND muscle marathon challenge (24 hours of Personal training sessions on May 19).

I'll be raising money throughout- and would love any donations you're able to spare. Thanks so much for reading and supporting!

Our Story

Fleet Sports Therapy offers clinical, deep tissue and sports massage therapy for treatment of types of pain and tension. Other services include PT and semi private PT classes.

Clinical massage/sports massage

Advanced clinical massage, also known as sports massage, is a type of massage therapy that uses a range of techniques to achieve a specific outcome, including: pain relief, an increased range of motion and relaxation. It’s essentially an adaptive practise, with every person who seeks it out requiring a slightly different approach – deep and soft tissue release, myofascial release, hot & cold treatments, use of acupressure points and trigger points, and stretching can all form part of the treatment plan. The treatment can be localised to a specific areas such as the neck or shoulder, alternatively it can be used to care for the body as a whole.

Where clinical massage differs a bit from other clinical treatments is the fact that it focuses on self-care – simply put, we will discuss relevant lifestyle issues with you as part of the treatment to ensure that you are fully involved and in control of your recovery.
