September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month 🩸

This is an annual initiative to raise public awareness about blood cancers, which include leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. While many symptoms can be vague and mistaken for common illnesses, early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for improving outcomes.

🩸Symptoms
Many blood cancer symptoms are often nonspecific, which can lead to delayed diagnosis. If you experience persistent or severe symptoms, it is important to consult a doctor.
Fatigue and paleness: Caused by a low red blood cell count (anemia), which can lead to persistent tiredness that doesn't improve with rest, as well as shortness of breath.
Unexplained bruising or bleeding: This can include frequent nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or tiny red spots on the skin (petechiae), which are caused by a low platelet count.
Frequent infections and fever: A low white blood cell count can weaken the immune system, leading to persistent or recurring infections and unexplained fevers.
Lumps and swelling: Painless swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, or groin are common, especially with lymphoma.
Bone pain: Myeloma can cause pain in the bones, joints, or abdomen.
Night sweats: Unexplained drenching night sweats can be a symptom.

If you feel you are suffering with any of these symptoms.

Please make an appointment to speak to you GP.
