Healthier Fleetwood

Healthier Fleetwood We are a point of contact for the Community, supporting residents to improve their health & wellbeing

The Healthier Fleetwood initiative which was set up in Summer 2016 to positively address issues affecting the long-term health and wellbeing of those living in the Town. We provide a forum for ideas to emerge from the Community, CONNECTING residents and encouraging them to take CONTROL of their health and wellbeing, and by growing in self-CONFIDENCE to lead healthier and happier lives.

WARM MATTERS WYRE is an opportunity to hear advice on keeping yourself and your home warm and safe this winter. Chat with the many suppliers and organisations, pick up some goodies, enjoy the refreshments and enter the FREE prize draw.

Among those attending will be:
Cosy Homes in Lancashire / Wyre Council Care and Repair / Greener Homes / Lancashire Women / Trinity Hospice / Waste Minimisation / Lancashire Diabetic Eye Screening / Bambers /
Healthwatch Lancashire / Lancashire Wildlife Trust / Groundwork /
United Utilities and Healthier Fleetwood.

Warm Matters Wyre is on from 2pm - 5pm, no need to book.

We'll be keeping the kettle on after the event because it's the Healthier Fleetwood OPEN MEETING at Emmanuel from 6.30pm. As always it's a chance to hear about some of the amazing groups and events in the Fleetwood community. You can come along to share your Good News or just to listen.

And we're supporting Lorraine Beavers MP to gather suggestions for the Pride in Fleetwood funding. The second part of the evening will be a conversation on how the funds could be spent to benefit the Town Centre and the community.

All thoughts are welcome but nothing will be decided on the evening and all ideas need to be added to a form which will be passed on to Lorraine and her team.

There are two more opportunities coming up to Have Your Say on the Pride in Fleetwood funding, see the attached for details.

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, listening to what's important to you and supporting your ideas.

Having already enjoyed a visit to meet the team and see the wonderful Strive Fleetwood, Debbie from The Mount View Practice escorted a group of student doctors to discover what's happening at The HUB Fleetwood. We were delighted to introduce them to the partners based in the building.

Following a chat in the Healthier Fleetwood Centre about the many opportunities available, it was off to meet Julie and Vicki from the Fylde Coast Macmillan Information and Support Service. They shared feedback from their clients ... how much a facility in Fleetwood was making a difference, avoiding the need to travel to Blackpool or further.

The team at Volunteer Centre Wyre are also seeing the benefit of working in the community, welcoming clients for a huge range of support right here in Fleetwood.

After a whistle-stop tour of the NHS Outpatients, Regenda Homes, The Pantry Food Bank - Fleetwood, Seasiders and Fleetwood Learning Centres and a look at vacant spaces on the upper floors it was back to the Heart of the Hub cafe and One Fylde.

By chance Kelly from Coach and Shine CIC was just about to start her Becoming More Me wellbeing group. Some of the members joined the conversation to share their stories and thoughts on how healthcare and community should, and is, working in partnership in Fleetwood.

We're looking forward to welcoming many more student doctors as part of their training and introduction to communities.

We had several great conversations with local residents looking for activities in the community ... friendship groups, arts & crafts and volunteering were popular themes. John was interested in the Art for Wellbeing group hosted by Luke from Volunteer Centre Wyre.

A couple of our visitors were new to Fleetwood and impressed with the many opportunities, they were looking forward to getting involved.

It was also good to catch up with some of the Wyre Council Community Team, they were meeting in the Heart of the Hub cafe and of course the One Fylde staff and volunteers looked after them and all their visitors!

There's a couple of community events next Monday, 1st December.

If you'd like to find out more about being a volunteer for the Christmas Day Dinner 2025 or support the fundraising, pop along to the Sea Cadets Fleetwood base on the corner of Beach Road and Princes Way from 5pm. There will be a hotpot supper for a donation, bingo, raffle and more!

Starting just a little later, at 6pm in St Mary's, Park Community Academy & Dream Team Singers, Cleveleys host a concert to raise funds for the amazing work of The Pantry Food Bank - Fleetwood.

Two great causes ... please show your support if you can.
