Meet many of the amazing individuals and groups making a difference in and around Fleetwood.

You can also share ideas for something new and offer your help.

It's Heritage Open Days weekend on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September and many venues across Fleetwood will be opening their doors to visitors.

We have printed copies of the guide to What's On available from our Information Centre at The HUB Fleetwood, along with details of the Fleetwood Blue Plaque Project and Fleetwood Museum Trust & Friends.

Some venues are open on days and times other than the weekend and one or two do require advance booking.

Tomorrow, Monday 1st September, Healthier Fleetwood is proud to partner Empowerment, many other organisations, voluntary groups and individuals from the local community at a very special event.

Join us at Highbury Stadium from 2pm to 4pm, and discover the support and services available to anyone struggling with their mental health, and for you to share with a friend or loved one.

You will also meet some amazing people with emotional and inspiring stories to tell and inspire, they will carry the Baton from Blackpool and St Annes up to Fleetwood on it's first leg of a national tour.

There's no need to book, just come along ... we're looking forward to seeing everyone and being part of this wonderful afternoon.

If you are joining The Kracken Fleetwood beachcraft event later today, at the moment it is still ON.

The weather forecast for early afternoon does say rain but the intention is to make a start at 12noon as planned.

Volunteers will be on site soon and any further updates posted here.

Please do come prepared for the beach and the weather.

Also starting at 10.30am is the Fleetwood beach clean with The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery, meet by Central Cafe.

Today from 10am to 2pm ...

Tomorrow, our friendly team of firefighters and staff at Fleetwood Fire Station are hosting a Family Open Day!

All the family are welcome to attend and talk to our firefighters and see some of the skills and equipment they have to offer.

With a chance to see our fire engines, chat to our firefighters and colleagues from Lancashire Police, North West Ambulance Service and the Coastguard, and even an opportunity to see our crews in action with demonstrations of a hot oil kitchen fire, there will be lots of fun for all the family to take part in!

We will be fundraising for The Firefighters Charity, both cash and contactless payments are accepted.

We’ll be open between 10am and 2pm – we can’t wait to see you there 🙂

And then from 12noon just a little further along the beach, behind Marine Hall ... help to make a huge creature from the deep out of sand, stones and found objects. This annual beachcraft event is hosted by Fleetwood Museum Trust & Friends, The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery and Healthier Fleetwood. Check out the The Kracken Fleetwood on Facebook for more.

Both these events are suitable for families - younger children must be supervised by an adult. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the beach and the weather conditions.

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 ... some rain is forecast. We hope that won't be a problem but please do check the pages tagged for updates on the day.

Mary from the Wednesday morning craft group at Fleetwood Library, called in earlier with her grandson Byron.

They'd enjoyed the Heart of the Hub cafe next door and then checked out the lovely knitted figures and diamond art that Mary has made and is on display in the Healthier Fleetwood Information Centre.

Domestic Abuse Support Hub- Behind Closed Doors is hosting a number of activities and events ahead of month in October.

You can join in with their pebble painting competition on now and running until the end of September. Entries are welcome with empowering quotes and these will be placed in different locations around the Fleetwood area throughout October. The aim is to give Hope and Strength to Victims/Survivors and awaken the Community to this National Emergency. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes for the most creative pebbles.

Starting next week, the team will be out and about in the community collecting information to share within Starter Packs for women and children who have fled Domestic Abuse. Organisations and groups are invited to include their leaflets and brochures.

And on Friday 10th October, Behind Closed Doors will host a Coercive Control Awareness Event at The HUB Fleetwood, open to all members of the community to learn more about.
