Even a four day week can be a busy week - made brighter by a few gorgeous words of thanks from a family I have been supporting with Charles Stephens Funeral Directors.

This isn’t an easy job, and while it is always a privilege to lead a loved one’s final farewell, it’s also lovely to have a reminder of the difference you can make. Things get put back in perspective!

After two services today I’m now off to visit a new family to look after, before it’s the big bank holiday weekend!

April is Stress Awareness Month

💛 ‘Stress’ refers to worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation. When a person experiences high levels of stress repeatedly, it can lead to psychological and physical issues - so use this April as an opportunity to raise awareness and look after yourself.

💛 Ceremonies like weddings and funerals can be stressful. Be it the pressure of the ‘perfect day’, or carrying the weight of grief.

💛 Just remember to take time to be kind to yourself.

💛 I’m keeping myself in check with a big hike enjoying the outdoors this Bank Holiday weekend. What do you do to keep the stress levels low?

This weekend some friends and fellow celebrants wanted to visit Liverpool, so I showed the around my city.
How lucky I am to be a hop, skip and a jump from this incredible place, steeped with history, architecture, culture and a mix of people that make it one of the friendliest most welcoming cities in the UK!
I’ve written a fair few services celebrating the lives of Liverpool lads and lasses - always proud of their roots and I understand why.

We had an amazing weekend exploring Liverpool and celebrating a birthday. Sight seeing, great food.and the laughs. Grateful for moments like these, their support and friendship.

Best wishes this Mother’s Day 💛.

You might be spending today with your mum, or calling her up for a chat. Or you might be missing her, wishing you could make that call. You might be out with your children, being celebrated, or hoping for the day to come that you become a mum.
You might have fur babies, you might have adopted the role of mum, you could be a second mum to someone who needed you 💛.

Mother’s Day hits differently for us all. I won’t wish you a ‘happy’ Mother’s Day, but I will send my biggest hugs!

What a gorgeous, kind message to receive today, after a service for a lady who was beautiful inside and out!
Sharing memories, reading poems, seeing pictures and hearing music that reminds us of our loved one - these different elements of a service came together to create a very fitting, poignant and yes, enjoyable Celebration of Life.
A funeral can bring tears of sadness and joy - acknowledging how fortunate we have been to have shared a path of life with those we have loved and lost. 💛

Today is International Women’s Day - this isn’t just a day about celebrating women, but about recognising that there is a long way to go in the fight for equality.

‘Nowadays, no nation has closed the legal gaps between men and women. Right now, women have only 64 per cent of the legal rights that men hold worldwide. In fundamental areas of life, including work, money, safety, family, property, mobility, business, and retirement – the law systematically disadvantages women.’ (United Nations)

So raise each other, elevate other women! What can you do to sport the women around you and internationally?

Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls!

🌼 Spring was very much in the air yesterday morning, the daffodils were out in full bloom at Walton Lea Crematorium.
While it is often perceived that a crematorium or cemetery is a dark, depressing place, that isn’t the case. Often they are a place of comfort, the grounds are beautiful place to walk, sit and remember. That was definitely how it felt yesterday morning 🌼.
Taking time and space to remember can be an important part of the grieving process. Make sure you find those moments 💛.
