✨️Ahead of the cinema release of 'Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret.', I was interviewed (amongst others) for Metro newspaper but you won't be surprised that I've got much more to say! ✨️ As a celebrant and through the research I’m doing for my PhD, I would argue that we have a huge gap in how we mark our menstrual milestones and changing this would have impact and value in our ability to break the taboos. For example, the puberty rite of passage, is all but gone in non-religious communities in the UK; very little emphasis is placed on the experience of the mother when we celebrate the arrival of a child; grieving after miscarriage remains hidden as, somehow, it’s become customary to wait until after 12 weeks to tell anyone you’re pregnant and menopause is only just emerging from the shadows, and even then, as a pathology not a coming-of-age to be honoured.
✨ C️heck out my website for a downloadable workbook to help you celebrate your important milestones or, get in touch if you want to discuss something more bespoke ✨️
(You'll find my contribution in between the photos of me now and from back when I first read the book!)
