I've dedicated my life and career to understanding family dynamics. Figuring out why the people that we love and care for most deeply and spend the most time with can also hurt us most deeply. Why sometimes home feels like a war zone and how to invite peace back in when it happens. Focusing on nurturing parent-child connection can help in many different situations, for example:
- Navigating chang
es in the family structure (separation, welcoming a new baby or creating a stepfamily)
- Helping children manage anxiety or challenging behaviour
- Helping children have better relationships with their siblings and friends
My main goal is that parents I work with feel confident and strong in their parenting, and my role is to help them take the guesswork out of supporting their children and nurturing their connection. Depending on the situation, parents may need different types of support:
- Practical advice on how to approach certain situations. Sometimes minor tweaks can save a lot of time, energy and emotional turmoil.
- Developing new relationship skills (for example, active listening, helping children regulate their big emotions, boundary-setting).
- Healing old attachment wounds that prevent parents from connecting with their children the way they want to. I draw upon over 20 years of experience, tools and techniques, and I am comfortable supporting parents in all of these areas. Even though parenting can be very challenging and confusing at times, it can also offer an opportunity for deep healing and creating healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I believe that it is never too late to nurture our relationships, and that time and effort invested in our relationships are never wasted. I work with individuals, couples (including separated couples), and families online and in-person (in Forest Row, East Sussex, UK).
