📢 IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ.

The 2nd of January is one of the busiest day of the year for our services and the 111 service is expected to be VERY busy which may mean a prolonged wait for calls to be answered. Here's what you can do to help yourself, save time and help us care for those in the most need first.

📱NHS inform has a range of symptom checkers for common illnesses and conditions you can use to help you decide what to do next: https://nhs24.info/symptom-checkers

🤒Check out the winter illness hub on NHS inform if you need help with colds, flu, coughs, sickness bugs, etc: https://nhs24.info/winter-illness

💊If your call is related to medicines please visit https://nhs24.info/accessing-medicines
Whether it is prescribed or non-prescribed medication, our guide to accessing medication can save you time. You might not need to call 111.

✔️By using NHS resources wisely, we can keep well and get the care we need quickly, safely and as close to home as possible.
Find out more about how to access the : https://nhs24.info/RightCareRightPlace

If you are using a mobile phone to call please switch to WiFi calling and ensure your device is charged. This will help to prevent your call being disconnected. Some mobile providers disconnect calls due to network capacity demand. NHS 24 does not cut calls.

NHS 24's staff are working exceptionally hard to answer as many calls as we can, quickly and safely. Please be patient and we will answer. If you can try the above options first, it could save you time. We want to help you get the right care, in the right place. 💙

That’s a wrap for Wee Elfred! 🎁
He was collected by Santa overnight, but who knows… he may just return next year.

We’ve truly loved having Elfred in the surgery and hope he’s brought a few smiles, especially during the busy festive period.

We’d also like to thank our dedicated team at Lour Road Group Practice for the care, kindness and commitment they show our community every day.

From the management, partners and staff, we wish all of our patients a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy 2026. ✨

🎁 Uh oh… what next, Elfred? 🎄
Looks like he’s put his back out lifting a heavy parcel!

If you’re struggling with aches, pains or a bad back, remember you can self-refer to the First Contact Physio service — a quicker way to get treatment.

📞 Just call the practice and we’ll check what appointments are available. 💙

🎄✨ A wee Christmas reminder ✨🎄

As the festive season arrives, it’s worth remembering that it’s not what’s under the tree that matters most — but who’s around the tree.

Got norovirus? This is one of the most common stomach bugs and usually clears up by itself in a few days. There’s no cure so the best thing to do is stay at home and let it run its course.

You should have plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to avoid dehydration and, if you feel like eating, plain foods like soup, rice, pasta and bread. Take paracetamol for fever or aches and get plenty of rest. You can also use special rehydration drinks from pharmacies if you have signs of dehydration, such as a dry mouth or dark urine.

Stay off work or school until 48 hours after your symptoms have cleared.

Visit www.keepwellinwinter.scot.nhs.uk for more information.

There’s been a lot of chat about lumps recently, but do you know the other signs of breast cancer?

Checking your breasts is as easy as TLC:

Touch your breasts: can you feel anything new or unusual?
Look for changes: does anything look different to you?
Check any new or unusual changes with a GP

Get used to checking regularly and be aware of anything that’s new or different for you.
