✨ New Year, New Beginnings! ✨

Exciting changes are happening at The Hair Lab! 🎉

After eight amazing years in Kirriemuir, we are delighted to share that the new Lab is opening TOMORROW at 31 West High Street in Forfar!
I remain dedicated to assisting everyone on their journey through hair loss and will soon be accepting NHS prescriptions once more.

She suffered with Anorexia for years but managed to beat it around 12 years ago 💪 hearing her story today was emotional, what a strong amazing woman.

Did you know that eating disorders can significantly contribute to hair loss?

When the body doesn’t receive the essential nutrients it needs, it can cause hair to thin or fall out. This is a serious issue that affects many individuals, but awareness is the first step towards healing!

Here are a few reasons why this happens:

2️⃣ Hormonal imbalances from dietary restrictions can disrupt growth cycles.

Realignment appointment for this lady yesterday. This appointment consists of taking the system off, cleaning up it up and doing any repairs if needed, i then treat the scalp and realign the system back on. 👌

A trichoscope is a specialised tool used for examining the hair & scalp in detail. It provides a magnified view allowing for a more thorough assessment. Trichoscopy can help identify issues such as hair thinning, hair loss, scalp conditions, and other abnormalities. It can also be used to monitor the progress of treatment for hair and scalp conditions. Trichoscopy is a valuable tool for consultations to help build a bigger picture. Above is a picture I recently took of a lady’s scalp, we can see her scalp looks lovely and healthy and she has multiple hairs exiting out each follicle which is good and what we want. Closer to the front hairline (the next pictures)we can see the start of miniaturisation, the process in which hair follicles become smaller and produce thinner, shorter, and lighter hairs. This phenomenon is commonly seen in conditions such as androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss), where hair follicles shrink over time due to genetic and hormonal factors. As a result, the hair growth cycle is disrupted, leading to the production of progressively finer and shorter hairs. .

About Us

We are a hair salon located in the centre of Kirriemuir with convenient parking to the rear. In the salon we currently have two stylists - Susan and Faye. We offer lots of services such as; cutting, colouring, perming, extensions, wedding packages and treatments.

Within the salon we also run a hair loss clinic. We offer Trichology consultations to those experiencing hair loss and/or scalp concerns. A Trichologist is someone who has studied the science of the hair and scalp. It is a branch of dermatology, they can diagnose different kinds of hair loss, hair breakage and hair thinning conditions. We have trained with some of the UK’s top Trichologists, Dermatologists and Nutritionists. We are fully qualified and fully accredited with the Association of Registered Trichologists, which means we have an ethical code of conduct which we follow. We understand that hair loss is a very worrying experience and have a commitment to ensuring the wellbeing, safety and very importantly confidentiality of all our clients.

We are also qualified in hair replacements and lace integration systems. We custom make and fit all our systems discreetly in our private clinic.
