Please see information below about a survey that has been issued by Angus Council about Early Learning and childcare. There is a question about whether there would be interest in Gaelic medium provision at this level and we would encourage any parent who would support this to fill out the survey. Anyone with a child aged 0-12 in Angus can complete the survey.

‘This survey aims to gather the views of parents and carers on how best we can offer high quality, flexible Early Learning and Childcare in Angus. This consultation will be open for four weeks from Monday 21 April 2025 to Friday 16 May 2025. The survey is confidential and will take around 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for your support.’

⚠️ Cancellations, please read! :)

Anna, Lori and I have reluctantly decided to cancel the last few sessions of this term due to schedule changes and a new baby arriving very soon!

We love our little group, and are working hard to make this just a temporary pause so we can keep bringing the kids together for Gaelic songs and play.

We'll update as soon as we've got arrangements in place to return.

Tapadh Leibh!
Rach, Anna and Lori x

With pancakes in mind for tomorrow’s theme here is a video designed for early years about baking cakes. Even if your little one doesn’t hear a lot of Gaelic, you might be surprised how engaged they are at watching a programme in the language! Great way for them to get used to the sounds and rhythm of the language and pick up some vocab. The Hùb hàb team goes around Gaelic medium schools to do a play annually & they’re always a big hit!

What a great session we had yesterday, with lots of familiar faces from our weekly sessions! The group is great at singing all these Gaelic songs now - all that practice each week is paying off!

⚠️ We've decided to follow suit after Angus Council's announcement about school closures tomorrow. CLUICH will not be on tomorrow, Friday 24th January.

Stay safe, everyone!

All Angus schools and early learning and childcare settings closed - Friday 24 January 2025

Message on behalf of Neil Lowden, Acting Director of Education and Lifelong Learning and Cllr Lynne Devine, Convener of Family, Education and Justice Committee:

Angus is covered by several Met Office weather warnings on Friday 24 January 2025. Widespread and significant disruption is expected tomorrow across Scotland:

“Storm Éowyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, clearing to the northeast on Friday night and through Saturday morning. This will bring a spell of very strong west to southwesterly winds, with peak gusts of 60-70 mph fairly widely inland, 70-80 mph in some areas, and 80-90 mph along more exposed coasts and hills (perhaps even higher in a few locations). Winds will gradually ease from the south during Friday night and Saturday morning.”

Met Office forecasts show the potential for gusts in excess of 80mph in many parts of Angus.

To ensure the safety of our children and young people, their families, our employees and our key partners, we have taken the decision to close all Angus Schools and Early Learning and Childcare settings on Friday 24 January. We appreciate the impact of school closures and are making this decision now to provide clarity for parents/carers.

There will be no school transport running. This includes all ASN contracts and College contracts.

Schools will contact families directly with information about learning which is to be undertaken at home.

A direct payment will be made to children and young people who are eligible for free school meals based on financial criteria. Existing bookings for school meals will be automatically cancelled via ParentPay.

Our session tomorrow morning (Friday 24th) has been cancelled given the weather warnings. Best to stay cosy indoors tomorrow it seems! Hope to see everyone the following week!

Feasgar math a h-uile duine | Afternoon, everyone!

Anna and I get funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig to run CLUICH. We now need to submit a progress report of how we're getting on so far. As part of that, we need to include feedback from attendees.

If that's something you can spare 5 mins to help us out with, we'd be very grateful! There may even be an extra biscuit in it for you on Friday 😉

There's a feedback form at this link, and we don't collect your name or email so do not see who the responses are from.

If you can manage a little time today/tomorrow that would be brilliant, but feedback at any point is always super helpful for us to hear :)

Tapadh Leibh! | Thank you!

We'd appreciate your time in providing a little feedback on the CLUICH play sessions we've been delivering to include in the report we must submit as part of our funding. Tapadh Leibh, Anna agus Rachael.
